I guess it'll be shite, but to be honest when star wars first came out,in 1977 or whenever, it was meant to be part 4 of 9.

It's Disney so--

Episode 7 8 and 9 with music composed by John Williams and Hannah Montana.
Noone will actually realise these straight to DVD films have actually been released - rather like Aladdin 2 and 102 Dalmations
Unnavigable DVD/BR releases with a "Fast Play" feature which plays every single trailer known to man before the "film"

Disney, the company also massively politically sided. Star wars with a political point...

Indiana Jones 5, with Indy played by Shia Le... oh, hang on.

Fuck off Disney. Fuck off to hell.

George broke Star Wars for me.

I loved it. LOVED it. And George broke it.

He's now sold it (and made 4 billion quid into the bargain) - which is a good thing.

It was always going to be monetized. At least it's not by George any more. Perhaps they can do an 18-Cert film for the 'dults who want to see it. (But probably not).

Meh.

I've not even seen the last film, is it worth watching? :p

18+ ? More like PG13 following a standard hollywood formula.

I grew up with Star Wars and LOVED it! My now 41 year old cousin introduced it to me when I was very little. Had tonnes of toys and still have shit loads of Star Wars Micro Machines in my parents basement! Pretty sure I was close the full collection, lol! That stuff was every where when I was little :)

If they remake Xwing or Tie Fighter I'll be very happy. Some of the expanded universe novels are very good (e.g. Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy) but I struggle to see how well it would work without the original actors. If they just make other films set in the Star Wars universe while ignoring the main characters then I'm not sure there's so much interest.

Bunch of slack-jawed faggots. Who cares? The last 3 were a visual feast, nobody really went to see them for the amazing story. And those who did, are slack-jawed faggots.

Disney? Bah... I want dark gritty Star Wars sequels...
But hey, there is a lot of lore in the books going up to 45 years after the movies. Wonder where they will take it.
The Yuuzhan Vong war might make a nice movie series :)
Or a few Thrawn movies...
I'm such a SW nerd :(

I have really mixed feelings about this to be fair, I don't know how they'll meet what the originals achieved, frankly, they killed it with episode 1, but tbh, it did get better, I just hope they don't ruin it again, as someone said before, we will all flock, and our geekiness will probably appreciate it still!

I felt a great disturbance in the Force as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and then said WTF!?

Heir to the Empire is fucking brilliant, good call.

I liked this. It's disney.

Compared to the original Tron it's a massive pile of gash tho.

All the things that were cool about Tron first time round weren't anywhere to be seen - and what is cool about the original is that it's a mahooooosive geekfest - and definitely NOT for the masses.

Which is why it was poorly received - it was too good for the mass retard market :)

Star Wars was monetised back in the 70s when it launched, so that argument doesn't hold any water. Lucas has become a billionaire out of it. Good luck to him. As much as I hate certain aspects of the new movies, it was inevitable it was all going to be FX, blue screen, and silly voices. 789 will be no different. The only way back to the 1970s is a time machine. The movie industry's moved on. Technology has. Today's audience have the attention span of a gnat, and unless you give people FX and cheesy soundbites they'll vote with their iphones and walk out. Just expect more of the same. As long as they don't dub Robin Williams for Vadar's voice, I don't give a stuff and go see them along with everyone else.

Movies and games should be treated like picking up women at a bar anyway. You go home with one, f*ck 'em and then in the morning whine to your friends if it was a shemale.

You don't wonder that before.

Before everyone jumps on the OMFG LETS BE NEGATIVE bandwagon: Disney are behind Marvel. The Marvel films (including Avengers) are without doubt a huge success and totally awesome and have made loyal (difficult to please) comic fans very happy. They surely can't fuck it up as bad as Lucas did.

I love Star Wars (the originals) and I would love to see more GOOD movies in this universe - which I thought Lucas had fucking killed. I thought there was no hope of ever seeing any of the Force ever again and done WELL. Now there is a New Hope :) (trolol)

Making a good movie should be doable if you don't have a complete fucktard at the reins - fingers crossed they pull it off. Put Joss Whedon in charge ^^ (not sure about a Nolan Star Wars ?)

To be honest, when did you last watch the original Tron ? I watched it recently and were it not for the old school nostalgia geekfest, and were I not a closet uber-geek, it is a massive pile of quite dull gash.

I definitely prefer the new movie, which I really enjoyed and I'd like to see more of that. I agree about the "things that were cool about the original weren't anywhere to be seen" - I would like to see some of these :) Unfortunately I don't the mass retards will get it. :( I really hope Jeff Bridges returns though :(

I think it's probably a good thing, George Lucas was a shitty director. He only directed a new hope, thankfully.
He produced and wrote for indy, but Spielberg directed them all.

tldr, lucas was a shitty shitty director, great writer.

Disney will probably do a better job.
