part of me is really excited about this. the realist in me is thinking god what if they fuck it up will it just ruin it completely? i would love i mean REALLY love to see the thrawn or heir to the throne trilogy turned into movies but i also know that they will never be done justice. i llove all the films ye i hate the gungans seriously who doesnt but its forgiveable i love the whole fall to the darkside and how anakin was manipulated and twisted by the dark side.

i would like to see the bane trilogy come to the screen the books where shallow enough to i think make a good conversion they were no where near as detailed as the thrawn trilogy but i did really enjoy it.

No sorry Ep I is a bad film with some good points. It's very badly conceived, acted, plotted and the overuse of poor CGI dispells any sense of atmopshere or environment.

Ep II is one of the worst films I've ever seen. It's truly a terrible film.

This isn't comparing them to the originals but taking them as they are. They are NOT good films.

I did enjoy the Battle at the end. Was gutted it didn't last very long though. It was like watching a decent round of Battlefront.

I honestly can't remember what happens in Episode II.. Is that the one where Natalie Portman is running around the the desert in a white mini skirt and a short top?

I mean, Episode 1 wasn't god-damn awful

Yes. Yes it was.

It was a massive massive pile of bleeding puss-oozing gash.

The only saving grace it had was that it was set in the Star Wars universe and was therefore "pretty".

Obviously not enough. I don't remember that, and if it were the case, I would probably have been more happy :(

Pictures ? :)

The reduction of one of the 20th Century's greatest cinema icons into, well, cheese.....

Frankly Lucas did that already with the Prequels.

Disney also own Pixar and pretty much leave them to just do their own thing, the sale to Disney didn't affect them. There are a lot worse companies he could of sold to.

I dunno about that.

Darth Vader isn't really in the prequels. The only memorable line he spouts is "Noooooooooo!" - up until then it's just gaynakin.

The only place Darth Vader features is in the original three films. And he's awesome in them. He's still the de-facto bad guy.

I agree with that there's a lot of worse companies in terms of new films - but the advertising thing will definitely reduce him to cheese. It was more than 30 years before Lucas gave the go-ahead to regularly allow Star Wars characters to appear in adverts because he, quite sensibly, wanted to protect their image. In that business image is everything.

that's just catering to the internet, darth vader has been in funny situations before and that video actually keeps his badass status rather well.

What do you mean by "catering to the internet"? I'm expressing my independent opinion.

Videos like that slowly erode image. It's why Lucas didn't have them appearing in adverts - he's not a great filmmaker but he's no duck-egg.

Star Wars has had parades/weekends at Disney for ages.

Sorry but they have. Lucas and Disney have been in bed for a fair while already, the purchase of the firm was just the next step in the relationship.

Just meaning that the video itself caters to the internet crowd, internet crowd meaning people who like stormtroopers and darth vader in funny situations.

Ofcourse it's your opinion, not denying that.

Lucas did greenlight some star wars commercial stuff, like the kdarth vader kid car commercial.

Not at all - It's been done for years, I like it they weren't being serious, because it would've been even more of a joke if they tried to implement Star Wars into that by being serious...

I was talking about this the other day, and it seems a option to build a whole new theme park just on Star Wars tbh! Even more of a reason to visit Disney with your entire family!

Ad from 2011. Star Wars came out in 1977. It's been over 30 years before its become a mainstream every-day marketing tool - and once Lucas decided that he was going to monetise that way what's to stop him selling it?

One year down the line, with data on how successful a marketing campaign Star Wars can make...

The idea of having a family sounds like hell on earth to me. Going to Disney would make me puke. A Star Wars ride at a pukefest location with screaming little satans running around?

No thanks :)

But:

Yeah. This. :(

Er, Star Wars has shilled itself for marketers since day one. It was tied into Burger King for donkey's years and has been associated with Pepsi since the 90s. The Beard didn't just wake up one day and say; "now I will talk to Madison Avenue"; he's been at it since the start.

Here's a Tunes ad from 1994;

Star wars was made from the get go to sell toys, more so with every other brand in the 80s-90s.

Popular = commercial. That's just how it goes.
