its not duping .. its short for Duplication

Cause and effect please. Cause: Server is unstable and desychnronized, Effect: DB gets corrupt and some stuff gets duplicated and not duping as cause and corrupt DB as effect.

I played the morning when the first issues came, there were 10-30 seconds long lag windows for all people on the server and I doubt anyone was doing an attack to screw the server.

This really doesnt add up unless the client itself sent duplicated notifications back to the in memory server objects maintaining character state, it shouldnt do this under any circumstances, no matter what the lag.

Thats not to say that it could of and that is the bug they are addressing ofc, still doesnt quite add up in my mind.

Naw it is duping, means fooling the server into accepting invalid client data i reckon.

If this is true why has there been no update at all today about how testing has gone/doing.

No info till the babysitters at mythic get into office, but info would be nice tbh, my heretic on us is 28 now but just not as fun as my pryd heretic, though think its more guild than server related

probably something daft like have send test results to mythic, to get the ok that nothing realy ihas gone wrong during test....

personally i like that theory about them useing prtd server to boost french cluster, and accidenly droping the server they ment dump us on

Suppose used interchangebly, items got duplicated henced duped, but the broader term for this sort of attack (if attack it was ofc!) is duping from to dupe - because it also involves other things like getting more in game currency, experience points etc.

Doesnt matter too much, isnt the english language a wonderfully imprecise tool.

No idea what they actually are doing, but if they're really coming to the office at 9am eu time & waiting for the US devs or whoever to come in & chat to them at 3pm or whatever time (hypothetical anyway so not going to be exact here) then they're missing a trick.

We regularly change the working hours of our staff to suit workload (shared user national distribution centre), there's an agreement that if we need them at 6am, then they come in then & start their working day3 hours early - there's a fixed payment for this. Same if we need them to start at 12 midday, and the extra payment applies.
It doesn't happen *that* often, but when it does we always have a couple of volunteers, and some more who can be persuaded into suiting the work pattern. Out of hours is par for the course in many industries.

Likewise there's the question of why the contract doesn't include out of hours support for EU servers by our US friends - now this *really* should be looked into by GOA. There's no saying that the current issue couldn't have occurred across several or all EU servers - and by what we're being told Mythic have no obligation to help EU outside of their US working hours. And if the issue is only traceable/correctable by Mythic personnel, then theres certainly a support issue to be raised here for future reference. To be honest, disaster recovery in this instance has been pretty shoddy and thats one thing most of us can agree on.

Solely compensensating in the manner you suggest, is not fair to the people who only have level 50 characters though.

it was last the 24th aug it went down, because they clustered french servers and was about to cluster english the 25th, so 8 days today.

How about a non-tradeable non-sellable Artifact+scrolls+credit for free for a char to your choice?

nah, just give free days. Let people work for their exp+artis etc. to many PL'ed chars in the game already in my opinion

tbh I dont belive a word they have said anymore, untill i see server up and working, they are just sat drinking coffee ignoring the problem as there other servers are up and french cluster works so sod the brits.

just like the film says "we seek the grail" "go away smely knigit, we already got one"

Well that would put 4 of mine out of thid.

No thanks but why not give 1 char of your choice /level 50. As im sure my reaver would be on his way to that by now as would my inf.

I mainly play 1 50, and i know others that do so wouldnt compensate them then
