I dont see how you can say that:-

I was there and it was plainly obvious that the person who joined did so just to stop the game takign place as all he was doing was abusing people, under alias, and not even trying to start playing.

If it was someone who joined and asked "can i play" or some other such polite way of saying it then you would be partially correct. However he didnt so your arguement has no merit and no other reasonening behind it apart from "its a public server so clans shouldnt play on it" forgetting teh fact that its "only" EVER clans that use the servers now as there is just about never enough people for a pickup game.

I dont want to make this a personal attack or anything but you must realise the situation cannot be the same in all games just because of the type of "public" server that it is. How dare we think that people who have played the game and have been a part of the community for years would know more about the situation than someone who plays a totally different game

Afterall, not everything is black and white and clear cut as people here are trying to make it all out to be.

Ok I personally see this qw server system, a server is available full time un passworded making it public, you can arrange to use the server with a pre-organised group, you go to the server to start your game where every one must state ready to start .

Ok thats easy enough, now you have a 4v4 planned say and the server has been empty before hand, you join but as you do someone else joined stoping the final player from entering, he refuses to state he's ready and stops the game, ok weather you stoped him playing or he stoped you, if you left the server he wouldn't have been able to play unless he had his own group planned .

Yeh I can see how this qw system differs from other publics if you all left he wouldnt have been able to play at all, and under those circumstances I think all of your players droping then rejoining once he left would have been a better solution but still the admin could be more understanding rather than overlooking this system and just abusing you and trying to wind you up .

What is needed is a proper admin that understands the game to avoid this kind of thing, I personally wouldn't kick soeone from a public in that situation but I would understand why the people were upset and I would not flame them over a public forum amoung my other flaming quake.uk palls .

Why are you wasting your time explaining this to someone who is quite insignificant. Nothing is gonna be done cause some cs playing bw +v understands qw (although by reading this thread he never will (mystic g)) Although nothing is done when u tell it to the head admins either.

Id like to ask why the fuck no1 used that jolt server :/ the admin changed it to suit lots ((((( also allowed kicking

Most QW players are capable of freeing up 20 mins for themselves. Oddly enough, we dont all live on Ramsey street, so quite a few of us can manage a couple of games without missing murder, burglary, communist invasion, etc.

Read what I posted, cockgobbler. I deliberately qualified my statement to tell you that pickups are made as fair as possible, and that in clan games differences between the teams are what the game is all about. Is reading too much for you? Index finger starting to get tired?

Why? You live in some sort of fucking dreamworld where there's hordes of QW players all wanting to use the publics, and the nasty clans aren't letting them. Sorry, but your lack of knowledge is shining through again - if clan games weren't allowed on those servers, they'd get virtually no use at all. The clans are what UK QW is all about, we're not a big community and quite frankly the way we've done it over the years has been fine for everyone.

My ISP disconnects me every 2 hours, and I find it quite simple to work out what time the redial will occur. Is this too hard?

Course, a lot of QWers are broadband now, and their connects are pretty damn reliable.

I'm on broadband and tbh my net connect is anything BUT reliable.

Yes, amazingly sometimes I am at home alone waiting for my wife to return home from work...shocking isn't it that I can be at home ALONE and married at the same time!!!

PC/QW crash? Not exactly a common occurance, QW isn't the poorly coded shite that a quite a few of you lot play, and it doesn't put much strain on todays machines either

My PC crashes of it's own accord every now and again - "not exactly common", but it DOES happen (thanks for giving me that point at least).

Having read all the statements, I agree that there was a valid case for an admin to come to the server and deal with the problem - however, next time, try and at least phrase the request properly, explain the problem without making homphobic comments and maybe this sort of thing can be avoided in the future? hmmm-hmmmph?

The server allows for up to 12 players and i think its 5 spectators now. So both teams of 4v4 were all in the server when the player joined and started the abuse etc. The game is capped at whatever the starting number is, so if you started a game 3v3, the maximum amount of people allowed to play at that time would be 6 with no other people being able to join until the end of the game, or if someone dropped midgame and then someone could join and take his place, same as if it started 4v4 or 5v5.

Though everyone leaving and re-joining when he left is a bit extreme when its only the one player causing the upset, especially when there is a second TDM server free at the time. The problem these days is not that people join and want to play, its that someone joins and does it purely to stop the other players playing, and if you move server, so does he/she. Its kinda sad that people do this sort of thing just to stop other peoples fun.

I just thought it strange everyone was taking the side of the player who had no intention of playing thus stopping everyone else from having a game under the pretence of "its a public server he can play" when he clearly had no intention of doing so.

As a final word to the person who said why dont we all have clan servers. Why should we need them, there are two perfectly good public TDM servers and one Bookable server on Barrysworld to use which are empty most of the time

Please use common sence before posting answers

I doubt how the request was worded would have mattered, its just the general trend that admins don't take qw seriously, and I doubt if I had worded my request in unnecessarily long words (like yourself perhaps) they would have taken more interest.

Oh and by the way I generally call stuff I don't like 'gay', not that I'm homophobic. Maybe its just my education.

Just because I don't play QuakeWorld anymore, doesn't mean I never have. Did it ever occour to you Cosmos that I just don't agree with you. Obviously not because every time I play something it gets sideswiped just because I admin CS

Until I just read this I was given the distinct impression that the clans were blocking this player from using the server. Thats the problem with these types of threads until people speak up you only get half the facts.

So granted this player should have been removed. I still believe however that clan games should be played on the bookables whatever the game & I'm afraid my mind won't be changed about that anytime soon.
