Thinking about it, they may well be sending pictures and things back, but what of sounds? I'm sure the wind or what not could be quite interesting to listen too in a complete nerd way.

Also an image of the sky or what not.

Well they have done all this before, there are movies of sunsets and the sounds of the wind on the Nasa site, they have photographed clouds and the Earth from the surface.
Cameron wanted to put the latest 3D cameras on board, but it got scrapped, they have to stick to the rules with that much at stake...maybe next time.

Some of the same guys watched the Vikings land..that was the REAL discovery mission.

It's a stitch of many images, so I'm guessing the camera banged down it's iris while looking at the sun

I thought they had 3d cameras on board? I know they can do stereoscopic.
