Can't you just say "I'm fine" then hang up?

No, it's annoying. They called and started to ask for private details, I asked how I could be certain they weren't scammers and they directed me to the website, asking me to call them.

Fuck that. I'm fine, leave me alone ffs.

So he lied then but not now? :)
To be fair we already knew herd immunity was the policy because they talked about flattening the curve to get to 60% having had the disease in February and March many times. It’s just Cummings calling them out for lying for what we already know they were lying about.

My belief they are lying has 0% to do with Cummings saying it.

Returning from travel abroad.
Should not ignore the calls, we had this when returning from Dubai, after missing a call they sent the police around. I was decorating and missed the call, the police were fine about it but still a nause.

Got a text this morning reminding me of day 8 of my 2 & 8 day test. So I took it, went online to register, and the web form says it's too early to take.

The second day test is before or on the second day. So you'd think the day eight test would be the same, right? Nope, it's on or after the eighth day. So now my test is in the fridge. But that wasn't before I discovered that there is no second label in the test kit to let me register it online (the instructions say there is). So I had to cut the bag open and get the number off the tube, then sellotape it back up. And the url on the instructions is wrong too, it just 404's.

£200 for this shit. And I had NHS test and trace calling me every day, I told them not to, said if I had a problem I'd call them. They say they have to call me no matter what. So I blocked their number.
They doing their job making sure you are at home. Things like this make it even less effective 🤨

They're calling my mobile. I could be anywhere. I don't see how phoning someone every day who doesn't need phoning and doesn't want to speak to them is a good way to spend public money.

Let the police call around, I'll have my headphones on gaming.

Even Peston is calling them out on the lie. This denial is just Trumpian.

I don't doubt they discussed the idea of it, although as Chris Mason pointed out on Politics Live there are many different definitions of what that could mean.

I get your annoyance, but if the po-po do come round they're coming to see you rather than doing something important. Can't you just answer, say yeah I'm at home, then forget it? It's only for a couple of weeks... 🤷

Whatever "definition" you want to apply to it - it's just different definitions of the wrong policy that would, inevitably, lead to more deaths.

So:
A) They discussed it
B) The policy they chose lead to one of the worst death rates on the planet
C) Whichever way to slice it - the Tories killed 130,000 people.
and;
D) We were all saying this over a year ago

The bit where you point to Tory faults obvs.

Yep. But each point is factual. They have admitted discussing it (even tory fanboi @Embattle has), we had one of the worst death rates on the planet (it's just a fact!), the tories were in charge (have been for quite a long time, last time I looked, unless there was an election I missed) and we were screaming about all of this last year on this very forum.

I don't get the "bullshit" thing. Unless Emb has gone full delusional. Or he uses "bullshit" as "I hate you la la la la la".

Dem's the facts. It's possibly one of my least controversial posts on this forum! :)

Yep, he's a scumbag. But he was being paid to do a job for the government at the time. He was attack dog and enforcer.

If his motivation is to stick it to the government and Bojo after they sacked him for disliking Boris's girlfriend then his strongest argument is to tell the truth.

"Yeah - it was herd immunity, I know, I was part of the decisionmaking process"
"But you told everyone that wasn't the case"
"I was being paid to say that. What are you a fucking idiot? I was lying - because that was my job".

And people are focussing on him lying, rather than the fact that herd immunity was the policy - a policy that killed people.

Of course, you have plenty of Tory dick-sucks that don't see it that way. But that's about self delusion more than anything else :)

/me logs in expecting to see the same people who have spent the last 12 months not trusting DC as far as they can throw him now hanging on his every word.

Ah yes. There we are.

Guy paid to lie now says "I got paid to lie"

All he's doing is confirming what we already know.

Nobody’s even mentioned it today.

Just watching a bit of the interview. He just described the PM as a guy who ignored all his advisers (including other cabinet ministers) as a guy running around a supermarket with a shopping tolley wandering around the aisles bashing the shelves :)

Had a video but no sound :(

He basically said "everyone knows [herd immunity] was the plan, we were briefing it to the media, kunnsberg, peston etc - so how can we be denying it now? If we're denying that, what else is going on?"

What I've been saying all along:

Dominic Cummings[/quote said:
if you took “anybody at random from the kind of top 1% competent people in this country” they would do things differently

So literally anyone else in charge would have done a better job at keeping lives safe than the tories.

This isn't shocking. It's just factual - based on the covid death league tables.
