Constructive Stealth RvR Query

Yep the vast majority are now using Left Axe to hack down assassins - as a Critbalde, my main Shadowblade would expect to get eaten by an infil, I guess thats the same as you using your crit strike should really expect to get eaten by a Shadowzerk/Soulblade.

Avoid the opponents that are custom specced to tear you a new one would be my advice.

These are basically my observations on a scout as i have had mine since european day of release.

Firstly we had crit shot nerfed so we could no longer crit shot a moving target, Then we had increased fumbles. Then we has see hidden and RA's introduced.

Now i fully appreceiate that an assasin is excatly that a stealthy hard to kill one on one mofo whos job is to kill quick and escape.

When i started my scout the arguement over scout being the better class of archer was the fact we had slam, the extra range of longbow isnt actually that great....mainly cause if u fire at max range they only have to run the other way to be out of range the other is the range isnt that different over the others.

So basically a scout specs longbow mainly and shield 2nd for slam which leaves sword skills fairly poor.

Now basically what happens is you use TS once in 30 minutes ( seems for ever for 30 mins to pass seems to last 1 seconds instead of 1 minute) you see a target standing down the path so you move closer (to close and you cant get enough arrows of to far they run away) Now if you are lucky your crit shot hits as more often than not it misses cause the target moves.( not very often an assasin is just standing still) So you hit for standard shot damage now depending on if they are close or far you either get perhaps one or two more shots in or the assasin runs away.
Right so now comes the fun bit assasin now in melee range so you go for slam (either gets evaded or sticks) if it gets evaded you go for slam again which has really knackered endurance down,If its stuck they purge.
So basically you can no longer fight with our main trained skill (longbow) its down to sword which in short =death.
Now if for some unknown bit of luck you actually win you now have 10 minutes before you can move without being seen from 10 miles. You have probs used all healing ra's FA and IP if you have it to win.

Atleast before see hidden we could fight and hide again like an assasin, before RA's we could really hurt people.

I fully appreciate that as scouts where able to crit shot moving and hide again we where to powerful albeit damn fun to play.
Now we have the worst melee of any archer class our shield spec isnt really worth a carrot cause of purge and our longbow misses fumbles or hits standard shot only.

All said and done is a fun class in a group as support but tbh i never made my scout for that roll.

perhaps a new skill like tracking for archers akin to assasins see hidden may help atleast we could avoid the assasins and continue to play solo a bit, but being honest that doesnt really sound fair either perhaps removal of see hidden and let assasins have a realm abilty like True Sight. but that sorta detracts from the point of being an assasin.

To close i really have no diea what the answer is all that i know is a once fun class (probs due to being somewhat overpowered) has been made into a weak class who even if grouped cant fight melee for very long compared to say a mid archer.

A shame.

Main archer problem is interrupts, its the only class in the game
who cannot fight back if someone is hitting you.
Its only class in the game who gets killed by a dot proc. Shoot someone and theres a good chance your out of the fight.

Archers need something like a quickshoot and a ra like MoC.
Need to be able to crit moving targets, but not targets in melee.

Its only class in the game who cannot use main weapon in melee,
and it hurts the class in all kinds of fg vs fg rvr, since its fast and
close combat. You simply dont have 3 min in a group to move
into a good shooting position.

Pbt/bt is a problem yes, but all 'melee' damagedealing classes face this, and a group with pbt should have the benefits from it.
Yes stacking pbt on wardens is way overpowered, but its a
balancing problem not a archer problem.

heh infs are specced to kill sbs too but its true what he said it has become far more harder, but then again with relics even the most gimped infs could take out sbs.

well, i know im not a very good player, but i wouldnt call myself gimped...

ive got the usual pattern of infy speclines

50 thrust
44 crit
35 stealth
35 enven
20 DW

also have SCed armour so all me stats are like (incl RR3):

52 thrust
57 crit
48 stealth
48 enven
33 DW

+75 con/dex/quick/str
max body, slash & crush resist :/

plus me RAs give me:

aug dex/quick II
MoP II
aug str/con I
dodger I

IMO, i would have thought this would make me comparible to most other stealther classes, but apparently not :(

No - you didn't take the Keeps back - you left them because you are too disorganised which is what made our morning raid so much easier. Apathy cost you those relics, plain and simple, as many albs have confirmed.

And to address some other points:

I would have thought you would want Mids to have pbt on a caster - from the mid point of view the hibs having it on a scale wearer is a complete nightmare - at least you get to kill our pbt in about 2/3 hits, frigging wardens take a lot of beating down. As for mezzers and stunners being chain wearers in Mid - don't think this is especially relevant - most of the stunning/mezzing goes on in the first few seconds of a fight - for armour to be a factor you would have to be talking about the latter stages of a fight.

PBAoE on a mezz class - Do you seriously think having PBAoe and single target mezz in the same spec line is a massive advantage? I don't think so.

As for the gimp thing - you have any idea what the damage differential between a chain wearing Mid hitting plate and a plate wearing alb hitting chain with 20% dmg bonus is like? Compare the damage Albs were doing with 2H weaps to Middy tanks to the damage Middy tanks did to albs then - Mid isn't even in same ballpark, simply because Plate is so much better than chain. Getting the relics has helped us alot in this respect and hindered you.

Saying albs are gimped is just too strong - its not the case. There was a time when there was no question albs wer dominant - as a result of this Mids and Hibs have been 'balanced' to try and equalise. The result may be a slight imbalance, but the fact is Albs have got used to being the superior race in terms of class choices, armour, numbers of players and are now throwing all their toys out of the pram when i it gets a bit more difficult.

If Mythic have overbalanced then no doubt they will get round to readdressing the imbalance they have caused at some point and so you will see loads of Hib and Mids moaning about them being gimped and Albs being overpowered, principally because the status quo has changed.

Now on top of the rebalancing you lost 3 relics - this makes a massive difference to your realm.

nice post tbh
