Tasbo, note however, that the keyword in your TV tax example is "sometimes". ;)

And I get lag "sometimes" too, not 24/7 ;)

Surely if it is lag that is caused by GOA/Mythics fault ie: Server lag of some sort, then I would get it too, provided im in an area on the same server as you?

Nope, not quite.

First, I didn´t have any lags in ToA areas pre-NF and neither my hardware, nor my INet Connection or ISP has changed since then.

Second, there ARE people who´re having constant lags, so even if you´re intentions are correct and the fault/problem is somewhere on the customer side, it´s GoA´s job to take care of it and tell us what we´re supposed to change/do/check.

And third, the trouble with OT showed us, that lag can be selective even if the source is somewhere between serverside and customer (i.e. beyond direct influence of the customer and, therefor, in GoA´s responsibility).

Like I´ve said before: When you´re offering a service, you need to take care of your part of the service up to the very point where the customer´s responsibility starts.

erm, posting here isnt really going to solve anything is it?

again using the TV example:

your TV services go down (or eastenders is shown more often), do you:

a) contact customer service

or

b) run out in the street shouting that your TV isnt working and you want your money back.......

Sorry your majesty. But that IS the reason i have no lag. Everyone i play the game with is from different countries, have different computers etc and they have little or no lag or if they do it is because they are runnning the game on laptops with the computing power of a C64.

Hi m8 i`d be interested to know how and why your not getting any lag at all.So could you tell me where your playing from, what net conn you have, system spec, resolution you play at and time sof day you play mainly plz?

- UK
- ADSL 512K , 2 DAOC accounts each on their own PC
- AMD3000XP + 512MBDDR + 9800 Pro
- 1152 X 864 all options enabled
- 1800GMT till 0000GMT weekdays.
- And my birthday is in august

You will probably note nothing spectacular here. That is because it has nothing to do with my spec etc and everything to do with what realm I play.

When Im helping guildies with mls, artifacts and such I don't experience more lag than in the RvR zone ^^

Remember a long time ago the servers going down for a few days, IIRC it was due to a DoS attack and all players were give 1 or 2 days free playtime and some xp IMO something along those lines would appease customers (maybe not the xp as the majority are 50 now whereas most wernt at that time) just some sort of token gesture to show that they care and aknowledge our difficulties and frustraitions.

In a similar way GOA/Mythic have told us they know that there have been lag problems and they are looking into it.

Tsabo.
havent they been looking into this lag thing long enough for ppl to start demanding some action?
its exactly the "crate of oranges" case, the money you buy oranges with and buy subscription with are the same, tell me where the difference is? Since oranges aren't essential to stay alive just like DAoC hardly is, they fill the same need with ppl = same thing.
im not however gonna start yelling refund... we'll never get it so why waste time asking for it? nib ill just bend over like always....

My mod status as absolutly nothing to do with my post or thread, I am, after all allowed to post as a normal human being too. If you look through Ironhearts posting history you'll see he has a past of posting rather comical (imo) threads. Just because I chose to say this, rather than someone else makes no difference.
If you have a problem with my style of moderating, PM me and we can talk about it.

Well to be fair thats not really right, some people will look to you for what they can do and what they cant, also they will see what youve done and think that because they are just a user they can do it more so, a moderators job is to stablise a forum and show what acceptable behaviour is.

Though posting as a human being is expected of course, what is a mod who no-one knows because he's never there? and in that regard you get top marks, youve got an interest in the game and your always around the forums just what a mod is supposed to be but remember your title is still set as moderator no matter how you post and so every post should be done with that in mind so insulting a user for no other reason then you dont like him persoannly and your not interested in the thread even though its relevent to the forum is not acting as you should.

I go through this alot with mods as an admin of a large forum (5k users) and maybe ted and dbs feel different but anyway just my opinion on it.

but it still means youre time is spread between rvr and pve, compared to someone whos time is 100% pve. The difference between now and before is that most people have fled from toa because of the lag, less people in zone = less lag. I ran ml4 3-4 times and near enuff ground toa to a halt every time to the point where the GM himself ld:

On a side note no company in thier right mind will dish out cash for "suspected" poor service, as soon as you do everyone else
will claim they had the same problem and require ze cash! Which then requires you to either

a) Check every single complaint for orthentisity = Time = Money.
And money that could be spent trying to fix the problem.

b) Give everyone who complains cash = Tell that to your stock holders and im sure they will be chuffed !

If you dont like the service you cancel your subs.

Your not on a hard contract and you have the option to stop at any time if its that bad dont pay and dont play.

Another difference is that the PvE part of DAoC as I understand has only been better with time and the RvR part are getting worse and worse. So I don't think PvE ppl are entitled to whine ;) <spot the sarcasm>

Now my question:

Who thinks that GOA or Mythic should at LEAST have the decency off refunding a part of our monthly payed cash because the problems are on their side..; not ours...
Or that they should at LEAST give 1/3 of the time given by that ammount of cash in free gaming time to compensate the problems...

Extracts of the following thread:

Since this seems to be the only place to find out from official sources what is REALLY going on, I would like a GOA representative to tell me if we are due ANY free time at all for the poor standard of service over the past weeks, and if not, why not.

Requiel said:
If that happens it will be announced on the official site and not here. Any decision like that will be taken way over my head and as such I can't and won't speculate on it.

Kaod said:
Fair enough I understand that.

I therefore ask that you ask the question of those senior people, so that they give an answer one way or another and THAT is put on the official site.

Kaod said:
Or even an official response or senior GOA acknowledgement to the fact that the player base is asking the question as I said in a previous post.

I'd really like to know where we stand on this, as no response is sometimes worse than a negative one.

Requiel said:
I've passed it on.
For the record I always pass on the significant concerns of the community. It's a two way thing, I tell you things and I tell my boss things.

And so far, no official response from the bigwigs of GOA to us from Requiels forwarding of concerns which was on the 15th Dec.

Like I said, even to acknowledge the fact some of the community are asking the question with "no we won't pay compensation" would be something.

Things like this make GOA look bad, and only increase suspicions that they do in fact - not care at all about the paying customer.

(And I know that if my Sky TV started breaking up so often it made tv programmes unwatchable (and it was Skys fault etc), I'd feel like a mug to keep paying them for such a shoddy service and expect nothing back.

I have played the game Asherons Call alot and in that game when things like this happen we did get compensated, but never got any money/playtime back instead they gave XP for 1 complete level, so it be from lvl 1-2 or 125-126 to all chars on your account or you did get rare items that ppl realy wanted, maybe GoA/Mythic should take after that.

Heaven forbid customers who´re excercising their customer rights and express that they´re not satisfied, eh?

Not distracting from what you are saying..however they dont have a "legal" right to post their opinions...this is no public forum..its a private forum operated by a company..and the mods dont own the forums..they are not staff of freddies house..and apart from the super mods dont own the site.

Edit: Iceforce I'm not posting against you or trying to flame..just pointing out something..and Tilda not having a go at you :). Have a good new years all ;o
