Thats the problem with the PS3 fanbois here any hint of something bad being said about the dead console is enough to start a court case with you and ST leading it.

PS3 is great to use as a bad example because it hasn't done anything right since it released.

I've never defended the PS3 once. Ever. In fact I have CoD4 on PC...

Mp is great coz you can customise your toon with weapons and perks very good MP.

Also runs a treat aswell no lag or framerate drops its a constant 60 fps i think i read somewhere.

Does it support 4 player split screen?

And if so, are the maps too big for 2-4 players or Ok?

I remember COD2's were pushing too big and it got a bit annoying trying to play offline with mates now and then as on some maps would take ages to find folk..

Yes 4 player split screen is smooth as butter, I have hosted a gaming night for the last 2 Saturdays and we have played COD4 multiplayer on my 50inch HDTV with 4 people. There are actually 5 of us so we have to rotate a player out every round but it works out real well for piss breaks and topping up drinks/snack. Oh and as for maps, there are a couple that are ideal for 4 players and still work well enough for 2 people.

Awesome, cheers for that. Am always worried about the offline multiplayer these days - they seem to focus on the online stuff a lot and forget about making it fun offline too.

Will now be picking this up at some point.. ideally if I see it in the trade ins stack, am poor :x

Just got hold of this on the PS3 today, only managed to clock up a few minutes in the game but must looking forward to some serious gaming over the next few weeks.

Interesting read on the achievements issue that is missing from PSN. Personally I don't play a game to get a badge but when I have played on my 360 and managed to get an achievement for which I didn't understand I did get a warm fuzzy feeling. As for gaming history I just remember stuff when reading forums or talking about the past, no need for an icon.

I do hear they are bringing some form of "gamer record card" as Chet put it to PSN but not sure when, I think a lot of this stuff is tied in with Home (which is a shame).

Have picked this up following my Assassin's Creed trade in - was £30 in Game (Deal of the Week), AC traded for £25 so £5 for a shiny new game Uber.

Think I paid £15 for AC when I traded Conan in before that.. keeps teh spending a bit lower so I can afford things.

You have the online challenges and perks on the PC version (I assume all versions?) you gain exp from achieving things online and getting kills, head shots, winning rounds etc, eventually unlocking new weapons and perks. Really nice system.

I played it through once on single player on easy, i was only really interested in the online mode. Though after doing it once i am now playing it on hard. amazing single player game, i just love the level where you are in the plane "we got a runner" really makes you think about war.

I do like the multiplayer game, though some of the maps are plain awful but once some decent home made maps start appearing it will be a CS beater. The thing i hated about battlefield was the respawn, had you trudging miles to get back into the action but with COD4 its pretty instant, usually around the corner from a nice big firefight. Another problem is if you survive for to long you always end up running out of ammo and find yourself scratching around for a dropped gun. I guess thats the same with all inline FPS games, it just doesn't feel as though 3 clips go that far though

I wouldn't bother with it on a console though, its so chaotic at times i really cant see how a control pad can cut it vs mouse/KB without shitty autoaim.

afaik cod 4 doesnt have shitty auto aim. personally im having np killing. it just comes to you with practice, like getting pro with a mouse did. i used to play the other cods online for hours with mouse + kb and got really good.
now ive played it on 360 for about 5 hours and im definatley getting better.

..And they would probably want only their own brand of Mouse to be compatible.. but they couldn't get away with that.

Or perhaps its some kind of statement that everyone should be on a level playing field and not limited by mouse quality? Or not having their 360 set up at a desk? :S

Weirdly a lot of people don't realise - I used to have a friend who insisted you could aim better with a gamepad than a mouse..

Mouse and keyboard is the thing that would finally make me switch from PC to consoles for FPS games. I just can't get into using a gamepad for shooters, especially online, where the action is usually faster than SP, and I tend to play for longer stretches. Halo was about the only FPS that ever "worked" for me with a gamepad.

NB. I haven't played CoD4 online on console - is it server based, or the usual P2P shit?
