Possibly because he is under sexual abuse investigations

The allegations have been around for a while - that he was bullying a co worker by flashing her everytime he saw her, and regularly flashed other women at work.

For the BBC this represents progress.

Without going back and checking, was Evans wearing the exact same clothes in every episode?

Anyway, I love the new NSX. The original was my first "favouritest car ever" growing up so I was keen to see what they've done with it.

Yes he was apparently, a few websites picked up on it. It was probably for continuity so they could mix up the episodes and it not look odd

Thought he'd get another season to see if he could learn the lessons of this one. He'd improved a lot since episode one.

Rest of the team are pretty good, especially since first time out.

I suspect Top Gear is (was?) too much of a money maker for them to give him too many chances. Add in the Police Investigation and numerous stories of him being an utter cunt to work for, this hasn't come as a shock in the slightest.

Keep Matt, Harris and Reid and ditch the other two it would probably actually be quite watchable.

I can't help feeling that the show has improved because Evans hasn't been on it as much, rather than him improving. He really has been unbearable all the way through. I hoped I would like that Sabina more than I do and Jordan is a waste of space wherever I see him but keep everyone the other 3. There doesn't need to be a "lead" presenter, they're all likeable enough to make it work.

Sad thing is I don't actually mind Evans too much, loved TFI and Toothbrush, and don't mind him on the wireless (tm Gran), but his style just didn't suit Top Gear in the slightest.

The funny thing is that the daughters boyfriends mum has bought the 5 litre Mustang.

I like the others except Jordan. The young black guy brings a nice youthful element to moves away from the stiff Brit approach of James May. Chris Harris has always been a favourite of mine from his YouTube videos - he's a proper driver's guy, knows his cars, can work with the camera. Matt Le Blanc has charisma, he's an actor after all, I enjoy him.

I was sitting thinking the other day "wonder what this would be like with Clarkson instead of Evans". Probably pretty decent.

They are great for a car show.

Trouble is, a car show would be pretty dull and probably fail to attract viewers.

The biggest issue seems to be that BBC didn't change the concept of the show enough. TG under Clarkson Hammond and May worked because it was Clarkson Hammond and May.

From what i've read (as i've not seen anything of the new show) it looks like there's very little that is actually different with the new show. And what differences there is are mainly just technicalities. (there are is? there are are?)

Suggesting that BBC may not have had enough faith in Evans (or his co-presenters) so he wasn't given room to make the new show "his", which i can imagine didn't go down well with his ego.

Clarkson Hammond and May are so fundamentally tied to the success of the previous iteration of Top Gear it's really really hard for someone else to step in and continue in the same footsteps.

Clarkson probably noticed that after he took over himself as the show didn't really start to change until season 2 if i remember correctly. And that's why it worked out as well as it did.

So Evans should maybe have stayed one more season and really pushed for his own ideas and left after that if it didn't work out. Or he just felt that he was getting such a bad rep already he didn't want to risk it.

Nah Evans wasnt a good fit for a show like that. He demanded the audience laugh. Reports of him being unsupportive of the other presenters. The films he did were pretty to look at but the voice overs were not clever or funny enough to get by.

His style just didnt work for that type of show. You were having a more grown up wiser audience than dfyt or tfi ever were and the forced interaction was painful

Imo

I like his breakfast show tho

I hope EJ doesn't come back.
Evans was annoying but the worst was the celebrity push.
It happened with Conan recently as well. He used to have a section called clueless gamer where he'd play a new game ( they had like 4-5 for him to pick from, he picks, obv they get paid $$$ by whoever got picked ), with one of his sidekicks and it was hilarious.
They recently changed it so it's conan+2 celebrities and it's just awful.

The celebrity guest section in studio was terrible, and adding random celebs as tagalongs on the road trips was even worse.

This, I've skipped every guest part so far on the new Top Gear, not necessarily because the guest selection was poor, but it was so scripted, and when Kevin Hart was on, he was genuinely funny, but Evans kept pulling him back 'on topic' which ruined the humour, whereas Top Gear in the past would talk about genuinely funny things for ages, and then not focus so much and with so much cringe on the cars.

Me too. I just watched the laps. Hated the switched intros where each guest introduced the other.

Jordan must go, what a tit he is.
Watched the African Nile special last night and it's there to see, they will never come close to those three and shouldn't even bother.
There are many scripted parts but also classic genuine sidesplitters when something stupid happens and the reactions of the other two is priceless, you can see, like three big kids they can't wait for the slightest thing to happen.
When Clarkson log hill start contraption flicked up in the air and smashed the back window.
The laughter was unscripted and hilarious.

The wife had the one where they made their own camping vans on TV last night, was great.

I like those short bits better than someone hooning round a track in a car I will never drive.
