Not really following here. There's going to be a continued Top Gear from BBC with other 'presenters' doing the show? Also a new show with May, Hammond and that old guy? And you guys are saying the new show with the trio might be shit due to it being the same old?

It all comes down to, "did you watch Top Gear because it was a show about cars, or did you watch Top gear because it was about three specific middle-aged men cocking about in cars"? If its the former, the Chris Evans version of TG will probably work for you. If its the latter (which it is for me), the Netflix/Amazon/Sky whatever show that Clarkson and Andy Wilman eventually launch will be what you're waiting for.

Will I watch the Chris Evans TG? Sure, I've found him watchable in the past. But I don't think its going to be globe-spanning beast that old TG was.

Doesn't bother me and I hope it has success because it isn't Topgear, it's just a car program with the same name and at least they are keeping it, which is good for all involved, but sacking Clarkson is adent in our international worth..that prick who couldn't keep it in house and blabbed has taken a chunk out of the UK forever.

That "prick" was A) the victim of an assault and B) kept it in-house - it was Clarkson himself who reported it.

You're such a fanboi tool sometimes Job :)

No, Clarkson reported himself to "the top"
Yep.

And either way - if you get told that someone's committed an assault you fucking deal with it - you don't just sweep it under the carpet.

He's on the board - so he took it to the board, as you'd expect.

I don't see why you think Clarkson should be excused for committing an arrestable offence. If that'd been a nobody on the street and his victim had pressed charges he'd have served some time.

He deserved to lose his job.

Erm. So we should just close the thread?

No, but I think we should all stop putting JC up on a pedastool, as you say @Scouse he deserved to lose his job, and in any other situation he would be in a whole heap of shit for what he did, he should be thankful he got away as lightly as he did, in fact i'm sure he is

Don't get me wrong, I like him, always have and i'll be watching where ever the 3 of them turn up next, but I also like Evans so I will be watching that too. I don't think they will try and make the same show, it will have to change and start a fresh.

He fucked up, he got what he deserved and everyone has to move on, This whole 'poor JC' is getting boring now, he has no one to blame but himself, and from all reports, he does

And this is it in a nutshell

It all comes down to, "did you watch Top Gear because it was a show about cars, or did you watch Top gear because it was about three specific middle-aged men cocking about in cars"? It was such an iconic global brand that represented Britain and our humour and they have scrunched it up and thrown it on the fire of PC..which includes the punch because only twenty years ago that stuff got deal with the same as rugby if both side shake hands..bit now every slight is a visit to HR.
The BBC is on it's last legs and they respond by ditching the worlds most watched TV show....fukin muppets.

Chris Evans has said they will be interviewing people for co-presenters and anyone can apply (as long as they know about cars). He will be announcing it on radio tomorrow with a website up on Friday.

What exactly does 'know about cars' mean?
Technical..style..history..latest?
It's the personality that's important..a fall guy...a nerd and an Alf Garnet.

He deserved to lose his job.

You obviously have more faith in the justice system than I, me and a friend got randomly assaulted on the way back from the pub a few years back, the bloke they caught ended up with a caution, and we saw him in the same pub again the night after. This was about the 4th time he'd been in front of the magistrate too.

The Clarkson thing? I'd probably have just locked them both in a room with some beer and told them to sort it out. Hissy fits are hardly new in Showbizworld, and whilst punching Oisin might have been uncalled for, JC also smacked Piers Morgan in the mouth, so Shirley the two acts just balance each other out? :)

(as a random fact my boss got asked to leave the company we both work for about 7 years ago after punching his boss after he said some unpleasant things about my boss' wife. 6 months later he was asked back and is doing very well for himself indeed)

However the unexpected upshot of all this, is that we Petrolheads will have 2 decent shows to watch now, which is fairly unprecedented as far as I can tell - and no 5th Gear doesn't count, despite VBH and her filthiness.

Interesting story in today's Sun. It would appear that the BBC's first choice to replace Jeremy Clarkson was.......Jeremy Clarkson. He was offered a return to the show before Evans was announced, however he said it wouldn't work and too much had happened for it to work - mainly the comparison with Jimmy Saville.

Sounds to me like the BBC didn't fuck up with not renewing his contract, but they did with some of the comments and sniping that went on afterwards.

He's also confirmed that he will be announcing a new show soon, and that Top Gear will be the biggest motoring show in the world for the next two weeks :)

Awful comic the sun.

The beeb's denied it but it doesn't really matter either way. He's prolly just after a bit more publicity for his new program.

BY LUKE REILLYFormer Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has confirmed to The Sunday Times that he will be returning as host of a new motoring show alongside his former co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond. The paper reports that the new show is likely to be revealed inside the next few weeks.

The show will reportedly air before Top Gear itself returns around March next year with its new line-up of presenters, including UK TV and radio personality (and occasional Top Gear guest star) Chris Evans as host.

The network on which Clarkson, Hammond, and May’s new show is expected to air is yet to be confirmed but, earlier this month, a source told The Mirrorthat the trio (plus former Top Gear executive producer Andy Wilman) were “very close” to landing a lucrative deal with Netflix.

Jeremy Clarkson was dumped from Top Gear in March following a physical attack on a producer. Clarkson’s final appearance on Top Gear will be a special, extended episode made up of two shoots that had been completed before the latest series was cut short by his suspension. Clarkson recently recorded commentary to tie his final episode together. It will air in the UK at 8pm on Sunday, June 28 on BBC2.

All the ingredients were there and some genuinely funny moments, but it was hollow knowing that 'back' in the studio was a corpse of Hammond and May alone...fuck you BBC for destroying that program, I hope they sack every prick who pushed Clarkson out...how desperately sad, the BBC's worse hour.

They did, his name was Jeremy Clarkson
It was ok but ofcourse it wasnt going to be the same the studio was just thrpugh the motions stuff. And they obviously hadnt finished off the outside shot editing so as clarkson said it was cobbled together. Still miles better than anything else on this sunday night though.
