tRoG - are they only picking people who signed up to the forums before Nov 2003, for beta?

Correct. Or, that's what it says in the official site :p

The mob system works as so:

Paragon City is split up into different zones. I can't remember how many zones there are exactly atm, but it's about 10-15 (I think). Each zone contains mobs within a reasonable level range of each other - For instance, Galaxy City an Atlas Park, the newbie zones, have mobs about lvls 1-7.

Within the zones, there are different districts, which act a bit like 'dividers' and split the large zones up a bit. Each district seems to have a different feel to it, and districts generally have more or less of a certain type of mob. For instance, in the Galaxy City zone, the Hellion mob type are most likely to be found in either the Equinox district, or the Constellation Row district. Note: You do not have to zone to enter a different district, only when changing zone.

Mobs spawn randomly around the districts, in groups. These groups are usually mugging an old lady, or dealing some sort of drug. Defeating a group of 5 blue con* minions solo isn't really all that hard at all.

If you want, you can accept an indoor mission. These missions tell you to go to a building in the city, enter it, and retrieve something/kill people/whatever. The insides of these building are spawned just for you - no one else will be in the building with you, unless you accept the mission as a team mission, and group up. The indoor missions are muchos fun - especially in a group. Storming through some sewers in a small group of very different heroes is godly :D

*The con system is the same as DAOC.

As far as I can tell it, the high level encounters aren't actual camps but missions requiring a group or even guild to complete, so there won't really be Sidi like dungeons...tho there are very high level "Trial" zones

Cyfr: sorry, betá is only for those that registered before Nov. 2003

think i registerd for beta way before that ^^;

need to check my mail box when i get home (100% sure i have deleted it if i gotten it tho cus of all spam mail)

Problem with a game like this is, your gonna get ppl who will build the "wolverine" syle characters running around saying "I'm the best at what i do" then get there butts kicked. Then bitch about it to everyone. Sad. More a "Bishop" man myself.

mentioning side kicks (yes, I'm on a sales rant, but there's a bunch of you here I'd love to convince to come over as well :p )
one of the problems with mmog's is that you can't group with your friends when they're significantly higher...a problem most felt if you happen to actually like l33t powergaming kiddies...(or you just suck, ofcourse)
anyway, CoH found the perfect work around. The sidekick system.
basically it means the lower level can become the sidekick of the higher level (this is, a temporary arrangement, so no need to spend ALL your game time in the company of said l33t powergamer) where your powers get boosted to near the level of the higher level, but experience will remain apropriate for your level.

so no more worries about trying to keep up with your friends, as this solves all those level difference problems...:)

You mean like AD&D? "3 level 1 characters go into a bar, a warrior, a mage and a theif. A Barfight insues, and the warrior jumps in, whilst the theif dodges blows and the mage cowers under the table. The warrior gains 600xp for bar knuckle fighting, the theif gains 400 xp or dodging and the mage gains the average for being there."

Old roleplaying joke there....sure you all heard it before.

actually they removed all forms of camps in the game

Yes but no matter how many camps they remove, the game is still going to be ultimately camp :p

Scratch that, actually. I thought it was April 16th today :D

Oh, and $50 is the cost at all of the retailers I've found. Keep in mind that the dollar is very low atm, so it works out that $50 == £27.5362.

I think COH and Warhammer look really cool . the only problem is there seems to be a lack of any decent PvP system .. which for me is the most enjoyable part of any game.

You're old enough to remember the Adam West version of Batman aren't you? :p

yes, and I also know CoH is doing everything to avoid such horrible cheesyness :p

I've been reading some of the backgrounds on the villains a while ago, and they're all rather twisted, dark and serious...much like modern day comic villains...

Ethiraseth: you and me both :p

You must be joking. That series kicked arse on so many levels, it is impossible to describe.

The heroes! The villians! The costumes! The silly plots! BIF POW SMACK!

You're all nutters.

Hey, i said i thought it was camp. Didnt say it wasn't enjoyable.
Hell, probobly laugh along with it more now than when i was a kid!

And lets face it, they could get away with more back then than you can these days.

It's not the game, but the people who play it.
But i agree, all Adam west wannabies should be killed on sight.
Either that or sent into the obvious trap first.
"Were right behind you...." (Avoiding the bloody pittrap and taking the henchman and trade entrance round the side.)"

I don't think so actually, or not many of them at least.
superhero comics have matured a LOT since Batman and Robin were flying over the screen in that particular setting.
just look at the resent uprising in superhero moves.
The X-Men, Spiderman, Daredevil, The Hulk...altho not devoid of humour they were all still dead serious (and great) movies...

As long as they balance humour and seriousness, then it will be a hit (Prob).
Otherwise, it will be the 3rd most expensive peice of bollocks on the shelves (dont need to say what the first two are).
