you missed the point ? really?
ok let me spell it out for you:

it's not a reffs job to take into account who has and doesnt have yellow cards proir to a game!
if a player commits a yellow card offence, then he'll rescive a card.

uhm no,
it's actually of a quote from the reff himself,
from an interview with the danish press.

trying to influence an official pre match is bad taste in any form.
A club of chelskies size should rise above such nonsence, it doesn't suite them

So how was the ref during the game? I haven't heard any complaints really.

Ref was fine for both sides, one of the only yellow cards i can remeber in the game was for Terrys silly challenge on Reina. Newspapers and the press always make up silly storys. Just annoys me how some ppl try to ruin what was a good game from both sides and a good reaction from both sets of fans afterwards. Liverpool beat us twice this year, we have beat them now once its all swings and roundabouts. Its what makes football interesting. Just wish the crybabys from all clubs would all go watch a diff sport

Ref was fine and profesional,
dout any top end Uefa ref would let him self be intimidated by such remarks,
but doesnt change the fact that i can understand his suprise and dismay over it.

Nerves are setting in already, not cool :(

I think we'll have to score first tonight to really deflate Liverpool - i know they need to score 3 to go through without conceding to us, but having to score 3 just to take it to extra time i think would really take the wind out of their sails.

Be interested to see how much of the game Gerrard will see, though i trust Essien to follow him like a lost dog tonight :D

Gerrard wont even be on bench nevermind start.

You would need an on form Gerrard and Torres to turn this around.

Lol I hope I havent put the kiss of death on it, I hope you go through :)

Yup, no Gerrard according to BBC live text:
1841: Liverpool have confirmed Gerrard will not start, so the much-maligned Lucas does.

1838: Steven Gerrard has been spotted sitting in the directors' box at Stamford Bridge, wearing his civvies. The Liverpool skipper has been struggling with a groin injury but Rafa Benitez had been expected to risk him in this game. So does this mean Rafa's throwing all his eggs in a Premier League-shaped basket?

1834: We have unconfirmed reports that Steven Gerrard WILL NOT play tonight. He will not even be on the bench.

1830: These ties are over. Nothing to see here... Right?

BBC said:
1852: TEAMS Chelsea v Liverpool
Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Alex, Carvalho, A Cole, Essien, Ballack, Lampard, Kalou, Malouda, Drogba. Subs to follow.
Liverpool: Reina, Aurelio, Arbeloa, Skrtel, Carragher, Kuyt, Lucas, Alonso, Mascherano, Benayoun, Torres. Subs to follow.

Well, that game was epic, ok my team lost, should have been a final, rest of the competition is gonna be boring. You won't get a better game to watch for the rest of the champions league campaign.
