My arsenal mates are completely convinced they'll go through, cant say i disagree.

Was getting well annoyed at the pub today, was fucking full of irish, polish and chinese united fans, made me start making a lot of noise for porto, i was begging for a goal :p

They are way over confident, Ferguson is great in Semi-finals, especially against English teams. I will wait to see what condition the squads are in and what the form is like a week before the games before deciding how likely a victory for either is.

Don't Arsenal have a really good record over United the last few years?

I can see them winning over 2 legs.

FERGUSON v WENGER
Played: 37
Manchester United wins: 14
Arsenal wins: 15
Draws: 8
(all competitions; wins/losses include games decided on penalties)

On the strength of the teams i'd expect Utd to go through, mainly due to Arsenal's defensive woes but Arsenal are so unpredictable in these games you cant really say.

I would also rather have avoided Man U but thems the breaks I am not confident of victory or defeat. Our defence is a worry now with Gibbs injured as well but he should be back. Gallas and Johan could be out for the season which leaves Silvestre and Kolo our next option is Song unless we call back some on loan defenders back Nordtveit maybe could do a job.

According to the website Sagna, Gallas, Johan, Clichy and Gibbs are all out or doubts. So Eboue - Kolo - Silvestre - ???

OUCH!!

Chelski will run you ragged at the back, you will need a LOT of possession to eliminate their threat.

More likely, Song is quite good at centre back, he would be missed in midfield though.

With the players we have out on Loan i do not see many other options. Song at CB with Cesc and Denilson in the middle allowing Arshavin to play behind the striker could be our best formation anyway.

I don't know, Song is not only better defensively than Denilson, he is better at going box to box as well. I know Denilson has grown this season, but if there is anyone player that could be regarded as a replacement for Flamini, it would be Song.

For me the difference between the two is consistency I think Song can play a game and look much better than Denilson. But Denilson is consistently Solid where Song has had a few wayward games. But your right Song playing well as he is currently is the better player. I meant moving Cesc out of the behind the striker role to fit all 3 in rather than removing Song from midfield as a good thing.

So you would play with on striker with Arshavin in the hole and two wide players? Or play with two strikers and Arshavin in the hole, and 3 in midfield?

I think Liverpool are stronger defensively down the wings and will give Walnut problems, especially if he is expected to defend himself.

Will be interesting, I think currently on paper that Liverpool and Chelski both have a stronger midfield with all their players on form (hell even that waste Malouda is playing well).

We have played almost a 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 in some games recently. I'm not sure about Liverpools Wingers causing us too many problems. I'm not saying we will win at Anfield but i think we can get a point. Its hard to tell it depends which Arsenal turn up if its big game Arsenal i think we can beat both Chel$ki and Liverpool but if its midweek doom and gloom Arsenal this could be a bad 5 days.

Chelski reek of overconfidence, it appears Barca are playing mind games as well, highlighting how much of a threat chelski are, while at the same time playing down their own chances.

I think you will get an away goal tonight, but that Barca will put at least 3 past you.

Where do you get the overconfidence from? I havent seen a single Chelsea player say they expect to win. Where as i've seen half the barcelona squad say they will win.

Off interviews on skysports, the general comments made by the media, and Hiddinks comments on bbc. Saw an interview with Pique and some spanish journo's playing up chelsea and playing down barca.

Messi has been mercurial this season.

Lots of pressure from Barca, Chelski been under siege for the first 20 minutes, they need to hold the ball up a lot more.
