Just don't expect it to be DAoC all over again.

It's not going to be no matter what MJ says.

Thats why i went with internal testing, im gonna push for everything that made daoc good ;)

I'd hate to burst your bubble on truths about internal testing/QA affecting how the game works, Wazzerphuk might be more inclined to be evil like that ;)

I was an internal tester @ chronicles of spellborn in The Hague in Holland, the game is set in stone that true, but with detailed bug reports and suggestions you can push the devs abit arround, and some of the idea's they gonna implent ;)
It is just a matter of a detailed report, and not something like, Make cooler styles... No a 10 page detailed report why you want that combat style ingame ;)

Cant wait to start :)

My experience of internal alpha testing (GW2) is that they were willing to make quite significant changes - for example the downed system change quite a lot based on alpha testers' feedback - but nothing that was really add odds with the core gameplay (understandably). I would assume it changes vastly from company to company though so who knows.

Wished those Alpha testers spammed the devs 1000 times a day that they removed that downed system crap, destroyed the entire pvp that crap. :p

Some of us did, and I couldn't agree more. We were one of the first guilds to be invited to the internal alpha outside of friends and family etc. Unfortunately most of the other 'big names' they invited were only interested in taking keeps and 100v100 battles. They loved the downed system because it meant their awful, lazy gameplay was never punished. GW2 all but destroyed any faith I had in MMOs ever entertaining me again but the recent announcements of TES:O and CU have - probably foolishly - given me a little hope I'll play another worthwhile MMO before I turn 30. :p

Yeah i gave up on new mmo's and just sticked with camelot after guild wars 2, Elder scrolls and Camelot Unchained are the last games im going to try, if those fail, ill just keep playing camelot till they close the servers and then stop playing mmo's.

But lets hope those 2 games are good :D

Depends entirely on who you are working with. Some are cunts and refuse to take even the most sincere reports in the way they're meant, taking them as personal sleights or assaults. Some don't care and do what they want, whereas some devs will listen intently.

One of the key ways of getting devs to side with QA is to carefully word things! Never be insulting or derogatory, always hedge your bets and put your point accross well, using good language and proper explanations as to how things can go wrong. :D

put some pledge in, not sure the sub based mmo is a good way to go though although it's apparent he's going for micro transactions too.

I was tempted by internal testing aswell but after considering it I just don't think I could be bothered with the bug reports you have to write, if you don't write up bug reports etc they can revoke your internal testing, says they reserve the right to do so.

So... you wanted the perks of playing the game without contributing anything back? Nothing worse than freeloading beta testers :D

I wouldnt call internal testing "Playing" majority of the game simply won't exist and what parts do will be littered with bugs.

I wouldn't want to do very early testing in fact i won't play much of the beta until it nears open beta, don't wanna ruin the game for myself before it's even released.

What are you talking about now? It's a general comment about people who sign up for betas but don't test, not aimed at anyone in particular. No wonder so many games get released chock full of bugs, most of the testers treat them as early access.

No, I am not giving Mark Jacobs any money until he has shown he is capable of making something that doesn't suck. Unlikely.

That's actually true. If people who went into beta were only people who actually tried to find bugs, fix things etc instead of "yei i was first" crowd they usually are, we would have better games for it.
