Go to dunkirk instead of calais.

When we lived over there and the French got all militant over having to work 31 hours in a week, again, we used to divert through Zebrugge instead.

I think you mean French employers getting militant trying to force their employees to work more than 3 hours a day! :)

The overnight boat is a boring journey from hell.
Im going from 8 am not over night. And you couldnt get pissed cause u would have to drive seven hours later. No chance to be under the limit.

We got a cabin tho so can catch some zzzz from the early start :)

Annnnd now they're turning up dead as i said.

"A migrant has died trying to reach Britain through the Channel Tunnel on a freight train.

Operator Eurotunnel said the incident happened near Calais at around 5am BST (6am local time).

A section of the tunnel was closed for investigation and both freight and passenger services have been disrupted."

Sort. Your. Shit. Out. France.

Was a breeze. Got there early so they put us on the earlier ferry.

Biking at 2700m, on the other hand, is an alternative fish kettle :)
T h its the way back that the issue. Not many seeking to get to france illegally.

At 3000m over the Andorran Alps, my DR750 would barely run, it was wheezing so bad, I had to jump off and push it at one point.

Drink Drive Limit
The lowering of the alcohol limit is specifically aimed at younger inexperienced drivers, so if you are a learner or have recently passed your driving test (within the last 3 years) the level of blood alcohol permitted has been lowered from 0.5 grams per litre to 0.2 grams per litre. It remains at 0.5 grams for all other drivers though remember that is still considerably lower than the UK’s 0.8 mgs.

In truth you cannot even risk one drink if you are a new driver and for experienced drivers it has always been my advice not to have any wine with a meal if you plan to drive afterwards.

This new drink drive law is targeted at the 18-24 age groups as a shocking 25% of all young driver deaths were directly related to alcohol in France in the last 2 years.

The tolerance i think refers to the amount over before you are charged

Man what a clusterfuck.

Question - why Calais, why not split up and go somewhere like Zeebrugge?

Because sneaking through the tunnel has better odds than sneaking on to a ferry

My mates are terrible drive the next morning offenders in France...drinking till 2am, then driving at 8am, OK it's mostly offroad, but we do a few miles on the road...it doesn't help when the French give us hot red wine at every checkpoint.

Hang on a sec.

These immigrants are in a place called 'The Forest' or something.

Calais is practically a building site, and there won't be any workers around defending their tools.

There's thousands of migrants around.

Get building Noah.

They seem rather eager to pull the fences down by hand, time to install some electric fences I reckon. Also, police officer had his face slashed open while doing his job at Calais, by these "Peaceful" migrants that just want a "Peaceful" life. Dunno about you lot but if they're willing to commit violence just to get into the UK quite frankly I don't want them in the UK, what happens when they have a hissy fit when here? go on a rampage with a machete?

As Raven said, it's one in a thousand.

They're getting frustrated, it's to be expected.

I've seen the French police treating them like absolute animals, but one copper gets hurt and there's uproar?

Are they not also human?

Just to put things into perspective, the number of potential immigrants at Calais is utterly dwarfed by the number taken in by other countries, such as Germany - which since the start of this year has seen 300,000 applications.

I've said it before, if you want to solve this issue then you do it by making it so these people don't feel the need to leave their homes. You do that through foreign policy.
