Glad I already had US version of Catacombs which i picked up while I was over in the US for Xmas

72Mb update only required.

First time I tried it was only 23Mb, but it didn't get on with my 1.74 US install*, but a full reinstall from the CD-ROMs fixed that.

correct me if im wrong..

if i change the Update.dat to catacombs. when i try logon it will install all files im missing (basically ALL the catacombs game) .. and the ONLY thing i would need is to purchase a cd key?

if so where can i buy a cd key? loking through these pages LOTS of folks having trouble with the site mentioned above.

so any1 know a good place to safely buy a cd key?

Well at least goa have tried to get something sorted for the UK players.

dlgamer.com have also been great, but bit off more than they could chew.

I just hope that next expansion goa stop and think before deciding to release on a bank holiday/easter week.

Hi again, some people haven't had the patience to wait for the download to run it's course.
If you have stopped and restarted several times our download patcher, thinking that you would speed things up, you most probably ended with a corrupted file.

If that is the case, contact us at support@dlgamer.com, we just finished installing a download server specific to these cases, we will let you reload the game and it should be much faster than some of you experienced.

Tell a lie - just got a reply - nice and friendly but not very helpful as to why their mailling sytems is still spamming out order available when it isnt - ah well...means i get more time to evaluate if its worth buying now instead of my previous panic buy!

DLgamer download troubles

Doesnt work for me yet.
Ordered 2 copies... first download only gave me one file. There was no second file to pick! i tried to download the 2nd file from my 2nd order, stopped at 669 mb telling me the download was ok. And of course unpacking now gives a crc error....
Waiting for DLgamer to give me a reply. This i must say, the reaction on my mails is quite fast. But i am afraid they are asleep now

Hmm,
After some correspondention with the DLgamer peeps they discovered a bug that was disturbing the download of the 2nd file for the last 17 hours... it is solved now and i am downloading with 150 kbps again. Hoping the file isnt corrupted after resuming a few times........
Again, the response from their support desk is very good!

Just a quick bit of info for those of you who have the corrupted 2nd file

catacomb.digital.uk.part2.rar

You shouldn't need to re-down load the file, just rename it to

catacombdigital.uk.part2.rar

For those of you who where downloading it from DLgamers mirror site and it suddenly stopped in the wee hours of the morning then you need to rename the link they sent you (i.e. remove the unnecessary '.') and start the download again. This paragraph probably makes no sense to the majority to you but some of us that had problems with the downloader program where given a link to a mirror site. Access to the site is linked to our isp's and order numbers so please don't ask for it to be posted here )

I apologise if im repeating old info here but really cba to read thru 17 pages to find out.

P.s. I think DLgamer are doing a pretty good job considering it was the 11th hour when they were brought in.

Well got a question, maybe a simple one but anyways: My download started yesterday evening, got part1 that night and waited for part2 till the morning. I found out part2 wasn't complete, and i started again the download manager. But ehm no part2 but part0 and part1. So part1 is part0 and part2 is part1 now? Guess so, but want to make sure. And do i have to rename the file now? :touch:

Don't worry about how the downloader itself names the files, it doesn't matter. It is a temporary name internal to the downloader itself.

Once the download is finished your files should have the right name.

Don't hesitate to ask help from our support, they need the attention, they shrivel and cry if no one talks to them

nope they can't just sell the cd keys sadly it is all i need they have said some were on here that goa want let them and goa has said before that they can't because there publishers want like it or something to that effect can't remeber exactly cause i have read many threads in the last week about cata release

Oh dear - I was going to download it as well, another unfortunate mishap to add to the mass of blunders this release.

How hard can it be for GOA to supply serial numbers. Its a bloody piece of software that generates em ffs.

If its so hard to do or there is no one with time to do it - send me the software ill bloody do em and send em to DL not like I can play Catacombs is it.

Come on GOA get your arses in gear and stop taking the piss outta your players.

DL are probably interacting with goa as a pretty normal company. From what I gather, DL just had a set number of Catas CD's and just made them avaliable on the web. I doubt there is any special deal going on, and afaik they would have to order new Catas stock like any normal company.

Someone suggested in another thread that GOA simply email DL the cd-key gen for catacombs. This is a silly idea for two reasons; firstly at such short notice nothing like this is going to happen. Realisticly a contract would need to be signed and much complicated legal stuff would have to happen before DL would be able to be given free reign on a CD key-gen. In addition, any program they were given would have to be well tested to make sure GOA got the required revenue for the CD Keys sold. This happening before April 1st is crazily unlikley.
Finally a slightly more possible idea would be for goa to email batches of cd keys to DL, ie an email containing 100 CD Keys for £1500 or something, although this has less security problems, it would still likley need high end GOA clearance and a fair bit of testing and contractual work before it could be used. Again, nothing that could really be fixed up over an easter weekend.
GOA arn't taking the piss, they've managed as best they could from a bastard of a situation. If you think getting DL some CD keys is as simple as emailing them the CD Key-Gen, you've got another thing comming.
For example consider; How do GOA get their money? How do they know how many CD Keys DL generate? How do they know DL wont just hack the program, or release it on the net(unlikley im sure, but FH would be the first to criticise if it happened)? How do GOA ensure that they dont get sued by all the other game firms and distributors for selling their stuff bypassing their own distributor?
There are many many issues that need to be sorted before GoA could even consider just sending the "bloody software" to DL. In any event, such a decision is probably take way above the GMs heads.

That bank holiday release date has been nothing but trouble from the damn start though - its like starting selling a new brand of kids toys on christmas eve - great people might rush out and buy them but your overall sales would have been better if you did a comprehensive marketing campaign and gave suppliers time to stock them!

I really feel sorry for some of the GMs and public GoA personalities who it seems have been overidden by the GoA execs/management.The top tier of GoAAOC seem to have made some pisspoor decisions and the poor front end staff have to publically support and justify them to the community.

Been there myself - banging my head against the desk while the phone is on hold in my office screaming "WHY FOR GODS SAKE WHY YOU RETARD DIRECTOR-I SAID IT WAS A BAD IDEA!" at the top of my lungs, then calmly picking up the phone again and placating the irate business partner/customer on the end of the line...

So...simply if theyre going to buy more off GoA my question would be how would this be achieved by the 29th considering they have a bank holiday weekend in the way...
