Ok, so we've got a guild, and we've got a pretty good spread of roles (mainly thanks to Beb being rather schizophrenic) - full on tactics are probably overkill so can we maybe consider dishing out roles etc (who should pull, who defends, who babysits me )?

Aphex seems out top puller but adrilind's SS is effective too, whaddya think?

From my solo experiences I find that letting the SS hack away till he's around half health then trying to heal him a bit, then blasting the crap out of the mobs works well.

The only problem with that is that it's not technically drawing the creatures out so if the mobs in a group, then he can get swamped and then there's a whole bunch of creatures who just finished the SS off and are now coming for us!!

Perhaps Aphex could draw while a couple of us ready some mesmer spells to freeze the creature while my SS then piles in and aggros it. Then we wait a few secs for the tanks to dash in and then the magic users join in and pound the fook out of it.


Pull --> Freeze --> SS --> Tanks --> Mages

Sound like a plan? (at least one of them). heh.

Mobs = Monsters (old skool term apparently but I only hear dit the other day)

SS = Spirit Soldier (one of my skills as a Spiritmaster). As I level, the type shanges...I think the next one up is a spirit swordsman.

Puller = The one that casts a spell on the target creature to provoke it into attacking the group. Hence "pulling" it out of it's larger group.

Tanks = Heavies. The fighters with loads of armour and loads of hit points who perform hand to hand combat with the creatures.

Just thought i'd point out...

Once GOA begin enforcing the roleplaying name rules it might be possible that your guild name is banned, its not keeping with the theme as such and is also a company name. Just giving you forewarning, for all I know it could be ignored but it mightn't be.

Well, as a Troll Thane my role seems pretty clear. I can a cast a couple of instant DD spells once Aphex has pulled (heh) but I shall be mainly hacking away with my double-headed axe. Sorted.

Yeah, I thought this might happen, particularly the company name part. No problem, as long as they let us change it rather than just removing the Guild. I desparately want to change my player name too, but it seems impossible.

Is there any roles the guild is lacking? When i start i don't mind making a character to fill a gap if were lacking it somewhere.

I'd assume they'd just let you rename it, would cause an outcry if they outright deleted it. I remeber asherons call when they deleted a chaps character for being called HungLo, he was level 50 or something...i mean ffs, deleting it a level 2, fine, but not when you've dedicated so much time to a game.

Two healers sounds good, but I'm not up on the strengths and weaknesses of all the classes yet. It'd be good for Xav not to have to worry about dying too much if another player can rez.

I can now do some long distance magic doodahs now too but i'll leave the pulling to the nominated. I'm a viking thane geezer i think

I'm not all knowing, but maybe a Shaman rather than a healer - a shaman can do healing spells but at higher level can also do some offensive spells. That way we have two healers but of slightly different types. If I'm wrong, I'll be corrected very soon

With regards to tactics, I can pull but only if I'm close enough to slap them around the face at the moment, so the best bet is for someone else to pull and if they start getting uber damage then I pull the monster onto me. Its generally what Ive been doing anyway I can only pull every so often, the spell needs time to regenerate, so I cant help everyone at once.

And seeing as I die alot anyway, and Im not really in this for the power and the glory, I volunteer for suicide duties whenever its necessairy. So if i type RUN and a compass point, its probably advisable to do so

Hmm... further to this the Code of Conduct does say on the subject of Guild names:

No brand, product, character or any other element subject to copyright.

which means our name is 'illegal'. We'll just have to see how it goes.

It's not BarrysWorld that have a problem with it, so bif could say the sun shines out his arse and it would make no difference. It's mythic/goa that have made these rules and they specify you cant "advertise" a company in the game.
