I've decided to start using my Yahoo.com email a/c.

Am seeking recommendations for a good email app

Must have GSOH, like walks in the park, and be up for anything kinky.

Cheers

I used to use K-9 and thought it was good. I've actually switched to the standard client since ICS and it been just peachy.

I actually dislike the Gmail standard app. A lot. I don't know anything at all about how to code up apps, but I reckon I could design a better, cleaner more intuitive UI and have much wider functionality than Google's inflexible piece of shite. Click on options / configurations (missing) / layout alternatives (nope), color schemes (what?), buttons (lol), toolbars (you what?), etc. Just wow. The list of possibilites is....oh, 4 things you can change that make zero impact on the visual / functionality. Awesome. Not. The widget is shite too.

Yes, yes it works, but its not eye candy.

(I'm not going to because I cba, but, hell, even my 5 year old niece could improve it)

The fuck are you smoking, Lamp? It's fine.

The only thing it doesn't do that I would like it to do is allow me to change the order of accounts when I have more than one setup. Or at least sort them in different ways, it's entirely static (the order in which you added the accounts is the order in which they stay forever). Other than that, it's a fucking email app on a phone, how much exactly do you want it to do?

Its not fine for me. Yes, it works. But so does a Nokia candybar, but I want better. I particularly hate the way it nests messages. If you have a large string of emails under one thread, trying to find one particular one is horrible. I'd like it to use colors, for example, to separate out the ones I've sent from the one's I've received, or to sort them by contact. I hate the way when you push the back button it doesn't return you to your inbox, and eventually it exits to the home screen. I hate all the fucking boxes. I don't need a fucking Priority Inbox, or an Important box. And whats with the stars? Pointless and unintuitive. I hate the way it handles reply & reply all, by hiding the reply all functionality. I hate the way the labels & colours aren't clear enough or clean enough. Looks really messy. I hate the way you can't delete one email from a thread without deleting the entire message stream. Thats cack! This is 2012 not 1992. The time for settling for 2nd best is over, Google. Stop arguing with Apple & pull your finger out.

Oh, and Google: if you want to know what a clean-looking app looks like, see AnyDo. Beautiful looking app. Now why can't you take a leaf out of their book, hmmm?

A lot of the stuff you're moaning about is gmail itself, not the app. Turn it off on a PC (or on a phone in a browser) and you won't need to stressed by prioty, important, stars blah blah blah (I agree with you here; all of that stuff is fluffy wank). They don't hide the "reply all" functionality, it's right there with "forward" in a drop down next to the MUCH MORE FREQUENTLY USED bog-standard reply. Labels and colours are as clear as labels and colours can be, for me. In that, I can see the label, and it's like... colourful... and stuff. I believe you can also turn off the message grouping but it obviously infuriates you a lot more than it does me because I don't have a problem with it. :)

I like the Priority inbox - you can set it so the inbox will show "Unread, Starred, Read" in three sections (without the "Important" wank) and then it's pretty neat for organising my email and highlighting the important ones / stickies.

The stock client works well for me too - it does exactly what I need to easily and quickly, I think it's pretty good :)

The only thing I find annoying is when you have very long message chains and you'r esearching back in time - it can be a pain finding the one reply you're looking for out of many from four months ago.
