Apparently etc.

There was also a leak found on Amazon which basically confirms the earlier leaked prices.

R7 at launch, R5 and R3 coming later.
  • Ryzen 7 1800X: 8C/16T, 3.6 GHz base, 4.0 GHz turbo, 95W, $499
  • Ryzen 7 1700X: 8C/16T, 3.4 GHz base, 3.8 GHz turbo, 95W, $399
  • Ryzen 7 1700: 8C/16T, 3.0 GHz base, 3.7 GHz turbo, $329
All Ryzen chips are overclockable... so that R7 1700 with a 500mhz OC will perform at the 1800x level ( assuming you get a cpu that can cope with that OC ).

£300-300 for R1700... vs £330 for 7700k atm.......

I still think the 1600X is what I want though... it's 6C/12T, with a 3.9ghz boost, so higher IPC for gaming performance, don't really need all the extra cores.

Ironic that the fastest is down the bottom simply because it is so expensive at over £1500, if nothing else the Ryzen might make Intel prices come down and perhaps increase release development.

Well that's kind of obvious isn't it (and not ironic)? The performance graph has a much gentler curve than the price one (because the highest performance chips are never aimed at the mainstream consumer so they can get away with charging more) so the most expensive chips will always be towards the bottom of a price/performance graph.

I suspect quite a few people reading it won't read it properly even if it is true, although it wouldn't surprise me if AMD continued to aim at the price/performance ratio to push its products but it'll still take a lot of independent websites to review them before we will how they actually do.

Roll on next week for some proper benchmarks. I was going to upgrade soon anyway :)

I'll carry on holding off since my i7-3820 is still going strong even though I purchased it on 15/03/2012, nearly 5 years ago now. My GTX 780 was purchased 19/12/2013 and upgrading that will probably have a bigger benefit but even now there isn't much I can't run really well on a 24" screen.

u w0t m8.

1700 @ £320 beats intels £420 6800
1700X @ £400 beats intels £600 6850
1800X @ 500 beats intels £1000 6900

Wait for the 4/6 cores if the 8 core stuff doesn't appeal.
I think the 1500X will be the 4 core and the 1600X the 6 core.

beats?

Hopefully, but let's wait for real game benchmarks with decent consumer mobos from Asus etc first :)

Yes, the cinebench/handbrake tests were there for people to publicly fuck around with, if you watch linus video you can see how much access they had.
That said, they are not gaming cpus they are video encoding/3d rendering/etc workstation targeting cpus. ( at least intels are ).

For workstation loads they beat the intel equivalents, for gaming... gotta wait for nda to lift.

It actually does beat them, even on single core benches they were equal.

There's a very respectable Ryzen R7 1700 system (8 GB DDR4, 240 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD, 8 GB RX 480) on Newegg in America and it costs the same as the i7-6900K. Just the i7-6900K.

None on OcUK but they'll come after release I expect (I have no idea though tbh). It looks like all the big stores are doing whole prebuilt PCs to start with.

Hmm. Nothing with 4.2GHz clock though. Not sure that many games will benefit from masses of cores.

Roll on the benchies...

If they have decreased the instruction set or the pathways in the chip then they wont need to get that high in ghz.

I thought they'd said IPC was comparable to Intels.

Intel are apparently also contacting journalists and requesting to see what they write about Ryzen before publication so they can "remind" the reviewers of the strengths of their own products. Not all that unusual in itself but still, in light of all of the antitrust bother they've been in before, perhaps not advisable.
