around 4am cet i noticed some action on Dun Ali so i decided to go and have a peek with my little hunter... after sneaking around for a while i became to curious and decided to check inside of Dun Ali..i stealth up and camuflage and sneak up the stairs , closer and closer to the preciouse belongings to mids, my eyes was filled with tears when i saw our dear power relic , so near but out of grasp

as i stand there with my tearfilled eyes watching the relic , hearing it cry out for my help .." take me with you " my batteries runs out , and my stealthshield drops .. with only 1 option left , i quickly find the 4 AAA batteries , load em up and press phaseshift and run up , UP UP .. passing so many albs on the way .. belive me the smell .. almost to mutch to handle.. but i keep running , bumping into everything on the way , blinded bye my own tears , knowing that i had to leave our beloved relic , knowing that soon my batteries runs out again , and i will loose the phase shift... i managed to get on the roofe, fresh air , that was my last gasp for air , before i died a horrible death..

It wasn't really planned as a relic raid to start with, iirc, just developed into on as the evening wore on. I get what you mean about the relics being taken at a late hour, but the thing was that they were really lost long before that, when Mids didn't retake their keeps (or rather keep - I think they could have taken one keep and stopped the relic raid, by preventing porting in). And the relics certainly weren't undefended - they were just defended badly.

Not like theres anything in the CoC or any rule for that matter that says you HAVE to do primetime raids and if not you HAVE to alert the realm you're going to attack atleast 24 hours in advance!

Alarmclock raids might be lame but its in my opinion the smartest time to plan a relic raid!
I mean, you do the raid with the goal of being successful, least ammount on enemies able to defend = higher rate of success

Instead of being sore losers do the same thing back?
Make a alarmclock raid, get the relic back and face the neverending music on FH

Which is bullshit, and you know it. I remember the first NF raid that Alb did, because I was on it - and it was primetime, starting before 10pm. Yes it finished about 2am, but you had plenty of opportunities to retake your keeps and defend your relics, by preventing us from porting into Mid. Instead, you CHOSE to try and pack your relic keep with people - a tactic which worked in OF, but was doomed to failure in NF when you can keep porting people back straight into the battle. You had plenty of warning of the raid, plenty of chances to defend, but you ballsed it up and have been whining about so-called AC raids every since.

And yes, for a long time we complained about the fact that Midgard, having failed to retake a relic primetime without Ardamel (the only Mid capable of leading a proper raid), resorted to a true AC raid - assembling a large force deliberately early, seeking to avoid giving us the chance to defend. Midgard was the realm that broke the loose agreement to keep raids primetime. Not Albion. Not Hibernia. Midgard. After that, all bets were off.

Frankly, I stopped caring much about relics after you broke that agreement, because as I knew and stated on many occasions, it would inevitably lead to all realms doing AC raids. I'm not interested in doing them or being part of them, so relics mean nothing to me now.

Don't try and rewrite fucking history Xajorkith, because both you and I have been around long enough to know what really happened.

Yes we have indeed been around a long time and it seems that with old age your memory is failing you.

You fail to mention that it was Alb that started the whole Alarm clock thing; you forgot to mention that in the first NF Alb raid, that all the Mids that had packed a keep defeated the albs and shut teh mile gate and logged off thinking the fight was over... you came back later. I will remind you that only Mid in NF has done pure prime time raids, something we can be proud of. What I don't understand is why can't Albion do proper raids?

The thing that is bullshit is that Albs dwell on the past, they say well Mids did an AC raid in August 2003 (I don't know last Mid AC raid so just made up date) so that justifies Alb doing one now in June 2005.... Albs have the biggest population they have some great class's there is absolutely no reason to make AC raids yet they continue to do so.

If Mids did a raid tomorrow morning they would say well Alb fecking started AC raids, of the last three RR alb did two AC raids....
And Hibs would say well we've got low population compared to Alb and Alb did the last one....

... the cycle continues....

I play this game because I like the big battles, I like whole realms playing as a team and playing cat & mouse with each other... I like the feeling of dread knowing Albion will get (say) 20% melee bonus if we loose this fight, or I'll be 20% better off if we win the fight... stealing relics in the night doesn't offer this. I think what I want from DAoC is similar to Mythic and you don’t need to point out I’m in a minority, I’m not whining about the past raids, my point is I want future raids to be better….

Are you really so dum as dogshit?

A bunch of albs who were up online and playing at that time thought 'hey lets treb Dun Ailinne and see if some hibs come out to kill'. Some hibs came out to play, the wall was breached and the albs took thought 'lets have a go at the relic'.

Can you get it into your tiny little mind that some people are playing during the night/early morning as thier normal playtime?

An alarmclock raid is a pre-organised, lets all get up at this time and attack as there will be few defenders. e.g. 250 mids on Renaris at ~5 am in OF, with 38 albs online.

FFS when the hibs took the relic at 6 am from ren, I gratzed them for the same reason - they were just up and playing, no waking up especially (Thus needing an alarm clock) was involved.

If you can't get that into your head, then you really are beyond any form of help whatsoever.

I agree on the relics vs toa template point.

However you're way of the mark with the 'bullshit' raids part. Do you consider that people play during non 'primetime' hours and actually want to do things like take a keep, raid a relic. If my playtime is in the off hours why can't I do that, I pay the same subscription fee as you do. In the same vein, I gratz mids/hibs when they do something during the night - i.e. in my playtime, it gives me something to do when i'm online.

And if you took your rose tinted glasses off for a minute, there's no such thing as an honorable 'primetime' raid. There's always somebody unhappy at being zerged/log out tactics/server crashing shrooms/hibs going for one relic while mids go for the other at the same time/ etc etc etc. It's never nice and clean like you put it, and the sooner people just chill out the better.
