You fail to mention that it was Alb that started the whole Alarm clock thing;

Partly because it's so far back in the mists of time that entire swaths of DAoC players have passed their exams since then. But realistically, it was an Alb that first read of how to do an alarm clock raid on VGNboards, just as it was a Mid that first learned about how to do a log-out raid there too.

you forgot to mention that in the first NF Alb raid, that all the Mids that had packed a keep defeated the albs and shut teh mile gate and logged off thinking the fight was over...

More fool them. They really should have known that, in NF, it's not over until you've cut off the ability to port to your realm.

Really, not much later. We're actually talking 20-30 mins (max) before the entire force was back at your Relic Gates. Like I said, until you cut off the supply lines back then, you hadn't defended. You forgot this, which is why you lost the relics.

The thing that is bullshit is that Albs dwell on the past, they say well Mids did an AC raid in August 2003 (I don't know last Mid AC raid so just made up date) so that justifies Alb doing one now in June 2005.... Albs have the biggest population they have some great class's there is absolutely no reason to make AC raids yet they continue to do so.

I don't think AC raids are ever justified. But, as I said, there's a big difference between a raid where people who play late-night go for the relics and a raid where lots of people who DON'T play late night get up especially early to get relics. The last real AC raid was WR Alliance's one in August 2003. Everything since then has, in my book, been perfectly fair.

I play this game because I like the big battles, I like whole realms playing as a team and playing cat & mouse with each other... I like the feeling of dread knowing Albion will get (say) 20% melee bonus if we loose this fight, or I'll be 20% better off if we win the fight... stealing relics in the night doesn't offer this. I think what I want from DAoC is similar to Mythic and you don’t need to point out I’m in a minority, I’m not whining about the past raids, my point is I want future raids to be better….

No. Because if Mythic wanted something similar to your ideas, they would prevent people from doing AC raids. There are more than enough concepts... hihg level guards in relation to server population, or increased spawnrate at offpeak hours. They´re able to compeltely shut off AC raids.. and they might as well even entirely remove the fooking relics.
Although I agree with your ideas, we all know that it´s futile. Relics will be taken at off-peak hours as long as it´s possible and as long as the game doesn´t prevent poeple from doing so. What needs to stop is not the chain of lame AC raids, what needs to stop is the chain of childish whining about them. If people realise that the only result for their loss of sleep is a measy 10% damage bonus and nobody will QQ/flame/complain/get upset about it, they will eventually stop it, thus shifting the world a little more into your favour. Rants only provoke AC raids. You should know that by now.

Actually albs started AC raids way, way back ago after mids held all 3 strenght relics for so long albs had no choice to attack late night for them to have a shot at them. Mids did a damn good job defending /respect. Then the whole swabang started and now we blame eachother. But the fact is albs teamed up with mids when NF came out on us poor hibs...and still we kept 1 relic hehe way to go hibs!

Of course, there are still people on all sides who keep whining and are hatching their double standard attitude. The 25 page long AC-raid-flame threads are kinda retro-cute, but that´s about it. The same is true for the but you´ve done it first in 1989. It´s not like a RR these days requires lots of clever planning and tactics and everything. People will never stop doing AC raids, regardless how much foam people are spitting around.
As for the superior numbers: being disorganized and without any real leadership more than compenstates for that. And besides... when Hibs took Berks a couple weeks ago, a /who Hadrian showed 22 Albs. It´s a simple fact: of all the 54.000 lvl 50 Albs that are listed on Duskwave, maybe 1% are giving a shit about what´s happening in RvR. Most of them can´t even safely travel from CS to Renaris.

I get your point with the fueling of raids with whine etc, just wanted to point out that with 540 albs you still outnumber mids

Problem with this is that you'd prevent people who play late (because they're night owls, work shifts, or whatever) from ever having a chance to organise themselves and take relics - which I think everyone agrees they should be able to do.

I don't think there's any way to prevent true alarm clock raids, if people want to do them. The most effective way is simply the disapproval of guild and alliance leaders - I know for a long time most of the leading guilds in all three realms frowned on AC raids and wouldn't get involved with them.
