I've read most of it (I have no life....) and it's been pretty good - in fact, for an internet forum, it's been bloody saintly!

Ruins my faith in the internet, all these people being sensible and rational, don't they understand that's not what it's for?

True, DoaC, WoW and AoC were all cock-ups to name a few. There are more, lots more to add to that. So we could say "Damn, when will they all learn"? But I think that's what it's all about, learning. Each game is different from the last so there's going to be a whole unique set of problems. Yes, I agree, bring the Auth servers up the same day as OB release is/was probably not the greatest decision. But from what we're told it wasn't because of that? I dunno. I'm defending them because I don't know the ins and outs but what I do know is that companies like GoA rely on their player base so pissing us off isn't going to intentional. They need us so they need things to work. I'm sure they're doing everything they can to fix things. Just gonna take some time I guess.

I commend you for defending them I really do but this whole debocle is down to their arrogance and 'know it all' attitude, now its jumped up and bit them in the ass and they have thousands of unhappy customers and possible customers to contend with.

They should have taken a look at the LoTRo launch, not on this kind of scale sure but still one of the smoothest launches I have ever witnessed. I was actually able to play the beta and the game...when they said I could! How novel

I can accept this. Things breakdown, it happens and even if we plan for everything we can think of, sods law dictates what can go wrong will go wrong.
I'm sure they're working their ass's off to correct the problems and get everyone online to enjoy the game. There's a lot of preasure there and I'm as dissapointed as everyone else. Been waiting for this game for quite some time now but to be fair, it's Beta. This is the time for them to work out the bugs so that when the CE and ER editions go live it's as smooth as butter

i guess some people has gone out of line in some posts, but personally i reckon that to be with the lack of informations / status every 30 mins or so (i do realise that what he said about there logs being out of date when they reached the people who had to communicate it to the masses)

but would had been nice with something like

1.00 - bla bla bla servers went down due to database reconfig
1.30 - bla bla bla servers still down...
2.00 - database server still down, crew estimate a bootup within the next 10 mins
2.30 - bla bla bla

just to show people that something IS infact happening and they ARE actually working on it!

Even if you knew for weeks prior the forcast was wrong, no in fact it wasnt just wrong, it was so blatently wrong and uneducated that the kid down the road could have told you it was gonna piss it down, would you still play that day ? or would you decide to play a few days earlier to beat the storm ?

The point I was trying to make tho was that when it was obvious that the registration system wasn't working - we all kept trying to register and then complained when it didnt heh. I learned a little about myself yesterday (cue Scrubs daydream).

Actually I meant to say "I wasn't defending them becasue i don't know the ins and outs" I accidentally left out the word "wasn't". Damn one typo changes the meaning of the who paragraph I fail. But I still don't know anything about it. I'm still trying in vain to validate and I still see 414 when I close my eyes.

General Update
12:10 CET, September 8
Sunday's soft launch ended up not being very soft. We experienced technical difficulties on primarily our account registration and key authentication platforms. A slim stream of players continued to wade their way through these problems, with the help of some rather unorthodox methods. This trend continued throughout the night.

As announced on our news, we took our registration and authentication platforms down for maintenance this morning. We hope to be able to bring them back online by early afternoon.

Game servers have been down for much of this morning, but after a successful and universal EU server reset, they seem to be stable. All in all, our servers performed well yesterday. This was, however, completely overshadowed by other problems. We are now back in full force and we hope to be able to resolve the most pressing issues during the day. Our number one priority is to allow our many Open Beta testers to try out the game, and by doing so provide us and Mythic with much valued data and feedback.
