Dislike that you think it's appropriate and proportionate to use that poem in the context of locking a couple of hundred protestors up. They're not being sent to the camps ffs.
First they came for...

I mean to be fair, he can clearly stated a number of times he believes Labour are neo-Nazis..

It's a serious point. Protest and direct action is being steadily criminalised.

You don't go from fine to fucked in one go. You find your rights steadily eroding - and protest rights are a cornerstone of any supposedly "free" society.

So it's apt. And also particularly in this case as both of you don't care / can't see it.

Academy of Medical Royal Colleges compared social media and screen time use to the issue of smoking or seatbelts in previous decades, calling it a "unifying force for the medical profession".

While it acknowledged causal evidence between device usage and health harms was scant

But we're definitely going to "act". Despite actual evidence (other than people's emotions) being thin on the ground...

That is the same thing I said to someone, she may not have been involved, but how come it never seems to have occurred to her at all.

There's no way she couldn't have known, she said she had no access to his bank accounts but it was pretty obvious she saw all the lavish things he was buying materialise out of thin air, she 100% knew to some degree.

It sounds like it would be a setting on a phone you can put on for your kids? How else would it be enforced?

What's your issue?
No, it sounds like the phone manufacturers have to install a system which would allow the Government to enforce censorship. First make it sound like it is to protect the children, then roll it out to other groups and eventually everyone. And I bet it will be logging any attempt to visit a site blocked by this "solution".

How do you Hard ID everyone whilst preserving their right to privacy?

How would you stop criminals avoiding this?

This is a transparent surveillance grab for the whole population (that wouldn't catch criminals) under the standard "think of the children" paean.

Won't make anyone safer. Will make us all a bit less safe.

Through a 'kid's phone' setting, but we don't know how they're going to apply it, obviously it would be concerning if they do it in the way that Deebs suggested, but there's no outline on implementation.

Porn websites must be pretty good at scanning videos and ensuring that everyone is of age and it's probably at the top of their priorities, why not apply the same kind of technology on a 'kid's phone'?

It's also not just about criminals, kids send the photos to each other then they spread like wildfire through the school which is devastating and happens far more regularly than you think regardless of how many assemblies kids have about don't do this shit and the amount of lessons that is spent on it.

You're conflating some very different technologies there with different implications, but in all cases you'd have to Auth everyone to make it work, and once you've authed everyone, you're China.

Alright yeah, I missed the bit where it said about verification for everyone.

Yeah, too far.

Although Apple seems to already do it...

I just thought it'd make sense to pass legislation where parents could active kids mode on their phone and AI detection of photo is used and other features, plus have some kind of legislation around making parents aware.

I have no interest in children, I don't care if they see porn. It never did anyone any harm.

I would rather opt out of all that shit entirely, I was 18 some time ago.

It's not about porn, it's about taking nudes.

What about when before smartphones kids used to show each other their bits behind the bike sheds or in the park in person, that will never be stopped unless you lock em up in their homes till 16.

Because people didn't take photos, print thousands off and distribute them around their locality.

Also there wasn't some nasty old creep in a girl/boy disguise behind the bike shed who then turned around and blackmailed them unless they did more and more. There are numerous stories of kids committing suicide because some "hot girl/boy" showed an interest in them, convinced them to send nudes and then turned on them.

Yes, hadn't read it.

Can't say I have ever sent or received a nude, so not that fussed if I could no longer do that, however, they will use a sledgehammer to crack a nut, as usual, and it won't work anyway, like the whole age verification thing.
