So getting someone like Nadhim Zahawi to join Reform is positive?

Animal testing breeding and testing sites to be re-classified as "key national infrastructure" in a vote tomorrow - which means we won't be able to peacefully protest near them any more.

What sort of definition is being used for "key" eh? Bunch of authoritarian cunts.

At least some Labour MP's are not total cunts...

So its easier across Government services I guess.

sorry, I mean papers please.

Who are you?
Where are you going?
Where have you come from?
Why are you going?

There are benefits of a single, national ID, it would make a shitload of things far easier, and cheaper to manage.

Or, what about a serial number/bar code? Lasered into our cranium, and the back of our eyeballs? Some sort of VIN, save the bother of asking for papers.

You sad @Embattle?

:)

I'll get one any way, it'll be another form of proof I have available to use.

I also suspect this is more likely to be a change to bring it in over an extended period of time, in essence every few years they'll add some sort of reason why you might need it. In the end it'll do what I would like it to do, replace all other forms of ID.

I detest the man, one of the few, if you hit him in your car you'd have to throw it in to reverse.

The Tories are imploding. The right is eating itself, these sleazeballs will make fuck all difference to anything about Reform, yet will end the Conservative party.

Meanwhile, despite all the headlines about u-turns, and the nonsense about "Starmer is evil", Labour are quietly getting on with good stuff.

I listened to Jenrick on the radio yesterday and the man is a traitor, even working for a political party I will not vote for. To stab all your colleagues in the back the way he has, and he's doing it because he wants to be party leader and PM. Nothing more. A man who did his mate a favour and tried to save him paying about £50M in community infrastructure levy charges on a housing estate. A man who genuinely thinks that net zero is crazy and that cheaper energy is more important than a cleaner environment. He's a racist, backward power-hungry ghoul just like Farage. Hopefully they'll all end up fighting eachother (as extreme parties usually do) and they'll collapse into irrelevance.

Most importantly a man that completely changed his politics when he saw the wind blowing a certain direction.

Absolute cretin of a man, Farage has more integrity.

Farage last year called him a fraud. They're ideally suited for oneanother, both being massive racist lying twats.

Farage is right though, he's adopting an hard politics because it's good for him, at least Farage has always been racist.

I mean look. I know he's a Tory, I know Reform are as popular as a fart in a spacesuit. But unless the only acceptable thing to say is "what a cunt" then what's the point?

Are we all so ridiculously partisan that we can see nothing in politicians from parties we baulk at, at all?

This guy looks like he's been kicking off over this for ages. We all hate the Tories for their mismanagement, correct? Most of us have worked in places that started off good, but turned to shit.

Is it not remotely possible that this issue really has broken that link for him?

If so, where does he go? Labour? Off to the greens to work for the Boob Whisperer?

Got to be satire
Part of the reason I'm getting called a gammon is that I'm willing to consider - without necessarily holding - different views.

You used to be the same when you were younger and at Uni. Maybe that was because university has that sort of an atmosphere. But now you seem set in a single predictable "camp". Group identity.

You used to be able to hold a discussion. Go on. Try again?

What else do you need to know? It's rats leaving a sinking ship, the ship they knawed the holes in. Pretending they are magically not part of the problem and won't continue to be part of the problem with a bit of rebranding doesn't fill me full of confidence, and in the case of Jenrick, yeah "what a cunt" pretty much summarises it; he was a cunt when he was a Tory, he's not going to magically stop being a cunt working for Nigel Farage!

See above. If we saw nothing of value when they were Tories, what's changed?

He's had 25 years to do that and I note his principles didn't drive him to the brink when the Tories were in power.

Maybe spend more time with has family and give everyone else a break? Or you know, the honourable thing?

I've tried this before but you pretty much said nope, you have completely changed your politics, which is obviously fine I just want to know why.

Otherwise I'm sticking to my theory that you just like to be oppositional, going from these Tory wankers etc to omg be nice to them just because they want to join Reform.

Still baffled, send help.

Don't disagree with much of this - especially Jenrick. We're on the same page.

But my point was not all of them are the same. I see value in (some of) both Tory and Labour MP's, but overall both parties are utter basket cases.
See above. If we saw nothing of value when they were Tories, what's changed?
Like I said, I see value in some of them on both sides. And sometimes, in some of a specific person's arguments, but not all of their arguments.

I.E. they're human individuals that lean a specific way. They sometimes vote along party lines even though they detest it, that's the nature of the beast. But I'm not full-tribal and there's not a lot of single-issue things I'll write people off for. (There are some, but not many).

So, in an adult world, that means I have to entertain the possibility that even for a person leaving a cunt Tory party and defecting to a cunt Reform party, that person might, just might, be doing it for a principled reason - and for one that isn't all that bad.

And whilst I see merit in this argument of yours:

He's had 25 years to do that and I note his principles didn't drive him to the brink when the Tories were in power.

Maybe spend more time with has family and give everyone else a break? Or you know, the honourable thing?
It's an ask of anyone to give up their livelihood and what (to them at least) feels like meaningful contribution. And it's not one the vast majority of people, never mind MP's, would make.

There's the age old saying along the lines of "if you want someone to not understand an issue, you make their livelihood dependent on them not understanding it".

So yes. It's a shitshow across all parties in Parliament. And there are defections. But this is the nub of it: unless we're writing off every single politician (and therefore making any discussion of politics idiotically tribal and utterly pointless) then we have to countenance the possibility I've posited. And, frankly, bring the temperature back down.
