I got this from another forum, but......

http://www.zzap64.co.uk

I loved my old C64 and I use to read this mag religeously for its Sizzler and Gold Medal awards.

Wonder if they ever did one for Crash Magazine?

I've got every single Zzap!64 in the loft, in proper binders, the first issue signed by Julian Rignall himself. I must remember to go visit eBay one day :)

I don't care what you all say, Rockford was the best mascot a magazine ever had. :)

Oh man, Zzap!64 was my favourite magazine ever - I used to buy it regularly (couldn't afford a sub - hehe), and the best part was the front cover, each hand painted by Oli Frey. The front cover would picture a game subject, and some of them were a bit controversial - who recalls the Forbidden Forest cover? Wow!

I also used to love the portraits they had for the scores - you could tell straight away if a game was any good or not, and some of the looks on the reviewers faces were hilarious. :D The mag went downhill after Rignall and Penn left, though..

Who remembers the continuing Terminal Man strip at the back of the mag? Great..

I still have some of my Zzap's in a box somewhere.. Ah, those were the days! I used to wish I could travel to Shropshire to visit the magazine. ;)

Oli Frey!....that's his name! He was a great artist.

Thing about ZZAP64 that I remember they were spot on with all their reviews. I ONLY bought C64 games on there review scores.

And I think the publishers were Newsfield.

I used to collect Your Sinclair. I did buy Crash and Sinclair User every now and again when I had the money and they had decent cover tapes. Remember that? when WHOLE GAMES were given away with magazines! No warez or anything. Not that games were hard to copy in them days...double tape deck anyone? :)

Beee-boop-beeeeeeeeeee-booplblblblblb-beeeeeeeeeee-boopblblblblblblblblblblbbllbblblblbllbbllbblbl ad infinitum!
A classic noise and one that is drilled into my head! Oh for the days of spectrums. When programmers actually had some talent and improved their code and the game itself rather than say "Oh fuck it, they'll just have to spend shit loads to upgrade and a fuck load of time online to patch it...we don't care!"
:)

Dayum! I used to read Antic and Analog for my Atari800XL back in the day. I had every issue of Compute! from 1982 to 1988 at one point in time (got most of my games from those magazines).

/me wishes it was 1986.

No way Crash owned all. But way before crash mag, i was buying a dragon 32 magazine, i can't remember what it was called, but i do remember typing in all those games they listed the basic code for back in the day. They used to take days and the biggest pain in the ass is when you finally finished it and the bleeding thing didn't work:) You had to wait a couple of weeks for the next issue to come out with the correct code. Does anyone remember this, one game they listed that was actually in MACHINE code, Boy that was a pain in the ass to get done. But i did it:) The game was called 'le mans racing' basically it was a Super monaco clone game top down racer. A good version too.
