So Wij has convinced me to get a new pc.

So far I have:

http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=605915
http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=605805
http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=606271
http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=604924

Now anyone tell me if the case is good, or if there is something better I can get for not a lot more?

Is it worth getting the 6600 conroe rather than the 6400?

Is the mobo any good? Can anyone suggest a better one for these components?

Memory will be 2gb of whatever I feel I can afford, most probably the geil stuff Wij got.

Not sure about the rest, but wait a few days on the graphics card. Nvidia's next gen card is out at the end of the week and that should make everything else a lot cheaper, including ATI cards!

The case is good (a friend has it), but a bit fiddly inside (ducts and thumbscrews galore). Also Antec's RMA process is shite (long story about my friend's PSU that came with the case and developed a fault) although the quality of the stuff is good.

I like that case, I had the original revision of the Sonata. It was nice and quiet, and the sideways HD mounts were good (if you always swapping them out). It seemed nice and cool and the 120mm fans kept it quiet.

Apparently the E6300 is a good buy as they overclock to around the same limits that the E6600 can overclock to.

Same case as me Ch3t. I like it apart from the door and I didn't bother with the air duct thing, just left it off.

Blue lights ftw.

These days - even though I've not bought a new gfx card since ages past - it always seems to be the wrong time to buy a new gfx card. For how long will they keep throwing out new cards for us to stare at on our intarweb screens in misery?

I disagree. The lights were far too bright. I unhooked them :)

They allow me to leave the room with all the lights off as my pc is shutting down.

I've always been a sucker for a blue light(vein).

Wow. No problems at all building and installing.

Soo quiet, soo fast and soo much cooler than my old pc as well. I am going to enjoy gaming on this for a while :)

we had a couple of those raptors where I used to work (well, we had 4). and had the fuckers on an esata bridge through some custom silicon to stripe all four disks together. Hell yes. We were getting fucking silly speeds out of that array.

I went up to 2.6 ish, just for benchmarking - I don't see the need to oc until I need the extra performance :)

I'm currently getting 46c st max load on the cpu, 36c idle. Quality!

Thats with speedfan.

What you using to monitor, and what voltages and fsb settings have you got? The geil gets unstable at rated timings and voltage if i push to close to 900.

Use Coretemp to test temperature. You have 2 cores to monitor :)

Can't remember most stuff. Go to the guide on forums at TomsHardware.

You using two Prime95 instances to get both cores at 100% ?

I'm using the dual core version of Orthos.

I pushed it to 3.2gig before I got an error, not ready to raise the voltage and get it stable just yet, quite happy with the performance results at 3gig.

What temps are you getting?
