What router have you got?

My old one required you to manually forward the xbox live ports or it would just completely fuck up.

Are you sure your wireless is working properly? Do you have any other devices connected via wireless?

Ah, I did see wireless G somewhere.

I'm not sure the model number is an exact match, but if it's the same as the standard sky router (which is a branded netgear) it required all the port forwarding shit.

Explained in much better detail here: Port Forwarding Xbox Live 360 on the Netgear DG834G

Don't forget to assign the XBOX to pick up the same IP every time it asks for one as well, as if the IP is constantly changing that causes no end of bullshit with port forwarding!

Yes, the xbox picks it up straight away. That said in the router settings there is an option that lets you force the DHCP server on the router to give the XBOX the same IP each time.

Trust me, if you set up port forwarding then the xbox switches IP's you'll be in a world of pissed off :p

Sorry fella, I was knackered last night. That XBOX support one is the best one to use, it takes you through everything for each version of the XBOX dashboard and tells you how to configure the manufacturers settings for all the routers.

I know I know dont start, they were the only ISP I could use in my apartment.

Does anyone have the default settings for the Virgin Media Router?

ADSL or cable modem? The former should need VPI 0, VCI 38 (same with all UK adsl, pretty much) and your username/password. The latter needs nothing at all.

your router should auto forward the traffic to and from the xbox .. wired is faster anyway :)

If it works wired it shoudl work wireless tho as your settings are all the same so wierd it doesnt

If you need to, in the netgear setup page, click on 'LAN IP Setup' on the left and you should have the option to add/edit/delete an 'address reservation' - this is where you can assign a dedicated IP address to a device...
