I would have thought the place we are all staying made the most sense personally...

Fair point really. The lovely Christian couple runnign the place did say the law folk paid for all our rooms. I took a peep at the guestregister and the place has been close to empty for months. There's rhubarb pie, but the dins is from 7 to 8.

On this here missing gentleman, they didn't have much more to say then what we read on the paper; good man, charity and all that.

I didn't really go rummaging around the nice folks kitchen, or garbage bins.

Well me and Good Old Rubric have just had our time wasted. We go over to the old Asylum and well lets just say it's more out of the Ark than Arkham. It reminds me of one of them old Public Nut Houses where Labotomies and electro shock treatment were the order of the day. I have a bad feeling about this place. We knocked at the heavily bolted door only to have the little security window opened. A rather ghastly 'gentleman' with the moust foul breath greeted us.

What we found out is that he isn't in there as they haven't had any new admissions for over a year. I mean it's a nut house not a hotel, no new admissions, give me a break.

This could be a dead end for us but I would like to maybe go back as I am not convinced.

No John Does at the sheriffs ... Sheriff was aggressive and unfriendly. He's heard about our missing chap and hinted at the fact that there's been trouble at the house. When pushed for details he refused to answer. So ... who fancies a trip to the house with me? I'd suggest a few of us go just to be on the safe side ... it'll also mean we can search more off the house without having to split up

Well, I dug around at the press office and disvovered the house Arthur owns has a very shady history, the original went mad and the next family was massacred including the children with an Axe! The father was never found dead or alive.

Apparsntly the current town sheriff, discovered the bodies and was deeply effected by it all, it could be the memories are still fresh in his head.

I'll be heading to the hospital, see if they've seen any outsiders lollygagging around.

Aye I found out the same stuff as Cal did. I had a quick dig through the old editions of the papers but didn't come up with anything-not sure if that's because I only had a quick dig before coming back to report to you guys or whether there's not much going on. Also there haven't been any other disappearances recently (or at least none that have been told to me) so luck there.

I'll be heading to the hospital, see if they've seen any outsiders lollygagging around.

Here's what I found out from Arthurs lawyer: He hadn't been involved in any business recently but in the past he has gone on expeditions to exotic locations such as South America. He was so rich that he was an investor more than a real business man.

I asked if Arthur had been planning an expedition lately and was told no. I was able to take a look at his recent dealing and it wasn't too exciting. Arthur had a standing order with the back to recieve a fairly large amount of cash which I was told was to pay his staff. A request for a large amount of coal and a request for a large amount of salt. There was also a recipt for a donation of his books to the library, mostly books about south america.

One of the things from the talk that stood out for me was that the lawyer described Arthur during their last meeting as not seeming well and acting slightly odd.

For that reason I'm inclined to go to the Hospital with toth.

coal and salt...that is an rather odd thing to purchase. Was there any explanation for those purchases or just the bare bones?

I think there's more to the sheriff than meets the eye, I'm hoping he knows more about the events at the house but we're going to have to go softly softly me thinks otherwise he's just going to block us again.

I'm up for travelling to the house with you guys, I'm guessing it's going to require some careful investigation and the more we have the safer/quicker we can find this man.

I agree it was a strange order. To my mind ordering a truck load of coal says maybe he was planning on some sort of steam power boat maybe? Maybe a lot of salt to preserve food? Pure guesswork.

I also think having a look at the books that he donated to the library might be worth a look.

I'm free to double up with anyone heading somewhere potentially dangerous. Be it the hospital or the house. I think we should have a search around the outside of the house, it's a very old house, and there is bound to be a basement or storm shelter somewhere!

I also agree with the going softly softly on the sheriff.

I'll come to the hospital on the condition that we are going to try and get inside, regardless of whether it's with the permission of the door man or not. There's got to be another way in, and if someone is willing to try and keep him chatting at the door. I'm more than willing to sneak inside and have a quick poke around. They are bound to have records inside, and information is always good to have!!!

The lawyer was not much help; he does not have any relatives that are known and Arthur seems to have had no disagreements that the lawyer is willing to reveal. I think there is more to this than he is willing to tell us though.

I'm going to join toht and cerb in the hospital run, I'm hoping that whilst toht and cerb distract the doctors (or whatever they plan to do) I can sneak a look at Arthur's medical records.

Good idea Ch3t, we can always pay the lawyer's visit if we uncover something juicy on Artur!
