btw, I don't think Gamah is trying to say "omg wow sucks it's so unbalanced" incase anyone thought he was.

He's saying "moving to WoW to get away from any perceived imbalances in daoc is entirely futile" :)

Got it in one, im not moaning about WoW being unbalanced (could not give a shit)...just tired of these people hyping it as flawless and perfect.

Balance is near to imposible to achieve in a game imo.

no it isnt.. but the game WOULD be totally and horribly boring as everyone would run around with exactly the same toon/class/spec/stats/armor/weapons/spells etc etc etc etc...

the "perfect" game CAN be made. only problem would be that NOONE would play it.

Nearly every single person ive spoke to has said the typical "Blizzard is omnipotent and WoW is flawless" in some way or another.
Then nearly every single one of those persons live in a very small world where they only believe their own dreams and never want to listen to others.

Apart from that, I'm probably buying the game to give it a good try together with some friends.

They're all short-minded and mad at daoc after their artifact still didn't spawn after sitting there for 12 hours. ;)

Wow has flaws, but certain aspects of the game appeal to me more than daoc does, f* off with that stupid mindnumbing useless piece of crap grinding.

Thanks.

I for one did quit a long time ago :)
I know alot of ppl hovering around the FFXI, coh and eve boards did aswell
only thing is that alot of ppl gravitated back to daoc as tbh none of the other games
could compare for someone who liked daoc style mmoprgs. The other mmorpgs
were/are nice and all but they arent what someone who likes daoc would/will like
(not saying that noone who played and loved daoc for some time wouldnt
settle down with any of these games but they generaly offer an entierly
different mmorpg experience then doac)

but now wow comes along and it however offers a simmelar mmorpg experience
to what daoc offers. Hence alot of ppl are gonna switch and stay this time.

thats waht I think at least.

The funny thing is I dont think you have to grind anymore to compete in RvR. I have a level 45 light menta and at the nged keep take yesterday and i would say i killed as often as I was killed. All this character has is some carefully purchased gear from the market explorer spent about 1-2p to cap dex, int and power pool% and good melee resists but has terrible caster resists. No ML's and No arties except orions belt. I will admit that I ran BB'ed and with DI sometimes but i was level 45. I had fun and like to think i competed. hehe prob surprised a few warders when a blue con mage blasted them and took about 3-4K damage before going down when DI was up. i certainly did not own but I had fun and thats what im here for, hopefully by the time I hit 50 he'll be fine for a little bit of rvr every now and then. (untill iRvR comes ;) )

Now, you also whine about NF. And the alternative is? As far as I know, Blizzard havent released any details of how they want to implement their PvE system (other than the system about the zones - but nothing about bonuses, etc). But, uh oh, "Everyone zergs in NF and I don't like keep fights!" Well, duh! Noone forces you to hug a wall with the zerg. Noone. I haven't so far, no reason you should. And, don't fool yourself and think there won't be more zergs in WoW.
No matter how often people say this, it doesn't make NF any less boring and tedious. :p

Owning with a mage isn;t hard in NF, it's still dull as dishwater though. I'd typically rack up at least a 20:1 kills:death ratio sat in a keep on my mentalist, not to mention getting ~20k rp per hour solo, but it's still boring.

Gah finally someone who says what i say aswell :)

I'm not looking for the perfect game, i don't even want a balanced game and those of you that say you do, just think for a moment how dull a game would be if everything was perfectly balanced.

One of the main reasons people stay sharp is because they keep changing classes and everything related. It gives unpredicatable outcommings which is what makes a game fun i think. So your toon can be great in one month and totally shit the next :D

My main reason to go to WoW is that DaoC has become very time consuming and even complicated sometimes if you want to enjoy all the aspects of it. I just want to enjoy as much as i can from a game without feeling like i'm on a second job :D

I don't think WoW can compete with DaoC yet mainly when it comes to PvP. However the game is new (which is their big pro atm) so it has lots of time to grow.

True. I cba preaching this but believing WoW is some wonderland is blind faith or whatever. The same problems WILL plague all the games. Balance issues might be a bit easier with only ~10 classes, though.

From what I've read, every class in WoW is overpowered apart from warriors, so my guess is the game is fairly well balanced and warriors need a boost :)

can i just say

Play a character you enjoy playing and be prepared for either.

1. The nerf bat swinging from the rafters (they like to hang upside down)
2. Your char getting nothing while others are improved.

O wait thats hibernia :D

I dont try and scream nerf i just scream "OMG GET SOME SKILLS AND STOP USING ASSIST GRRR" which is true ;)

WoW has a new game to look around and explore not the same old monsters mythic just need to update the whole exp thing so its less crap and more fun. Fun = you wanting to have 8 lvl 50's instead of me with just 2 (cries at the injustice of it all)

WoW will get its base of hard core fans/ hard core whiners / casuals going wtf everyone moaning at / 13 year old kids.

Daoc got them , SWG got them, AO got them, UO got them, EVE got them, COH got them. All online games end up with whiners and complainers because lets face it whining is damn good fun :D

Well anyone who has said that is living in a dream world. Any mmorpg will have issues at start if not always .. never will everyone be happy. Think main reason many looking forward to wow is they are sick and tired of goa and bored of mythic moving in the wrong direction :(

My point exactly, maybe posible to make but a mmorpg is nothing without players, so it would die and balance would be lost meaning it failed, imposible to create balance.

Not the first time I see insults from you amounting to basically the same; if you believe calling someone a "penis" is the height of sophistication when it comes to insults and you are 23 years of age, then it's certainly time to mature--fast.

WoW is a complete re-hash of every other MMO on the market packaged in a cartoony gfx package.

If thats your bag then go for it i'd say.

DaoC:

You create a new character!

you cant do fuck solo, you are basically on your own till lvl 20, downtime is enermous
cant equip yourself via crafting due to the design of it, cant sell items fast and easy to get some cash
lvl 50 is hard to reach and far far away
nobody pves the normal way, powerleveling or grinding with a bot
after lvl 50 you are rdy for grinding through trials of atlantis!
after that you need to obtain certain artifacts in a retarded system (need artifact encounters, respawn timers ! rox rly)
farm scrolls!!!!!!!11111111
You are ready to enjoy New Frontiers ! :)

w0w:

You create a new character!
Woot you are lvl 25, only time you grped up was for instances and it was fairly easy couse of the communcation system, you are unguilded still!
omigod the grind is alot faster and easier
no fucking pve expansions yet to grind through
You are ready to enjoy the battlegrounds - pvp ! :)

wow is alot newb-friendly compared to daoc. (even if you compare classic daoc pve to wow pve, its 10x times faster and more fun to grind through, even for the 2nd or 3rd time, on same race, same side.)

Dorin - your view of DAOC vs. WOW is only valid if you only want to do RvR/PvP. And the vast majority of players do not only want to do that.

What about DAoC PvE being crap :p ? Personal opinion probably, but I think most people will have to agree DAoC PvE is hardly above-average and on the losing end content-wise compared to other MMORPGs like EQ.

Needless to say I played DAoC for RvR. Needless to say I quit because of ToA. But I'm looking forward to WoW !!!
