Errrm sorta but why are you planning on putting an OK graphics card in such a wank spec machine?

//ED: It's not that bad I spose... I'd stick another 128 ram in there though if you want XP to function :)

I'd build something from scratch instead. For slightly more money you could do a far better machine. Have a look at the Shuttle barebone systems.

I'm with Will on this one. Have a look/shop round, then build from scratch. You may thank us later :)

Link here. You have an AGP card already, so I'd go for either the XPC SS51G (P4 on a SiS651 mobo), XPC SB51G (P4 on an Intel 845GE mobo), or (personal call) XPC SK41 (AMD on a Via KM266 mobo).

Its a fair price, I've bought Compaq machines before through the discounted company scheme, the ones without monitors are actually a good spec.

If you go through eBuyer and Dabs and pick out the cheapest of every item, like the £15 cases, £2.50 keyboards, £35 disks, a combo mobo/video/sound/lan, low speed Duron, etc you'll probably come close to that figure, the difference is the software, if you already own XP, it probably is not worth it.

White box machines are shit, because they invariably skimp on the components - usually the hard disk, the ram, or the graphics card. "20GB Ultra DMA" isn't exactly specific

And they tend to have overheating problems, component failure. I'd self-build.;)
