Is it me or is the paladin really the only class without any form of ranged attack/spell ?

Worst/Best RvR Class. What a pointless thread. Someone already pointed out the Veeshan was consistenly in top 25. You really think he solos ??? Hell, even a high level cabalist in and organised and balanced RvR group will get uber rps. There are no worst/best class, just worst/best players. Also success in RvR totally depends on the circumstance. Like a grouped Healer is an fearsome opponent. whereas solo they are sitting ducks (once those instas are down). Spiritmasters don't bring much to groups in RvR, but meet an even cons skillful SM when you are alone, and then tell me they suck.

People tend to think of RvR as some kind of rock/scissors/paper duelling arena. We all now its not like that at all. A skilful daoc player could play ANY class in RvR well...imho

Friar can be usefull healing from a distance. We can't cast.
Just tried the middie version of the paladin on prydwen, the skald ... SO unfair, I kill a yellow in 4-5 blows, when i am in trouble i just hit "TURBO" and run off, AND i get that refreshment chant stuff. Not to mention the shouts.

You don't need to discuss all this - there are simply figures that scientifically determine a classes RvR efficiency.

A few months ago some ppl on the USA servers published on the Catacombs forums a list based on the population figures and the RP figures of the ENTIRE player base. Around that time USA servers were still on v. 1.45 so the euro servers probably come very close to this.

For the high lvl chars (lvl 45-50), the ranking was :

% Play : how often this class is played
% RP : how many RPs they get
Eff : %RP/%Play = how efficient those classes are in RvR


Level 45-50 players:

The Warden has no ranged harmful spell and only has the basic shortbow for ranged physical attacks which is not of any value other than to pull mobs.

Ooo look..

Top10 mostly stealthers - they have the most rps shocker!

Next 10 mostly casters - they have long range and aoe attacks and lots rps shocker!

Next 7 mostly healers - limited offensive abilities but essential in grps lots rps!! amazing

Bottom 6 melee chars mostly, big surprise there, some of us like in ya face combat tho alas. Remove mezz/root/paralyze/stun from RvR and see the picture change h0h0. Melee chars got no rps not cos we cant kill - but cos we cant catch you Or are totally incapacitated 50% the time.

Such is the life of a tank. Hib tanks get it easier cos every class in hib seemingly has a root or mezz spell to help em catch/kill there targets.

OMFG 33 classes on the server and i managed to pick the worst one in RVR

And not just the worst one ... the worst one by far, check the size on that gap between 32 the merc and 33 the Paladin !!!! Not to mention that the 3 alb tank classes are IN the bottom 4 and since 31 and 30 are both on 0.60 RvR efficieny they ARE the bottom 3 !!!

Not only that, check out the populations figures!

If Mercs had 6% population our showing would be better I'm sure.
Pallies get resist chants soon (USA) i read - should bump u closer to the "healer" range.
