I think you are all assuming SWP will play as more than a sub. I think it far more likely that Milner and Joe Cole will be the starting wingers for any given match. Lennon and SWP are subs. But it's pointless second guessing Fabio, or writing off our chances. ONce we hit the knock out stages it becomes anyone's cup to win. Suspensions and injuries will have their part to play, I do not see us struggling to get out of the group.

You are right Turamber, on paper our squad is much thinner than that of Spain and Brasil - but look at the Germans, Italy, France they do not have the same options.

No other nation would waste Gerard on the left side of midfield. He's far more influential than Frank "2 yard sideways pass" Lampard in the middle.

Really? I think Lampard is massively under-rated. There is a reason Chelsea do so well when Lampard is in advanced attacking positions, his support of strikers is top class. Gerrard runs better, Lampard can pick out a pass better.

If Barry is fit, he can sit while Gerrard and Lampard both attack. Milner would give us some protection as well, he is not scared to track back.

He lacks the contribution because England are so inflexible to play beyond a 4-4-2 he can't play his best game.

The Chelsea midfield is built around him, 3 in midfield allows him to make those late arrivals into the box and so on. Look at what happened this season, Carlo plays 4-4-2, Lampard has a stinking opener to the season, switch to 4-3-3, Lampard ends up with his best goal tally to date.
