Indeed, although we were very very lucky at times - they missed a virtual open goal, should've had a penalty and we then cleared the ball off a defender and back off the post - Hopefully like the Spanish side we can build on this
Yeah fair enough. Spain put some extreme pressure on towards the end (i was expecting it to end after 80 minutes) but i thought the English defence was pretty solid. That Gerard (from Barcelona i think) was a right menace and has been tearing it up but he was dealt with fairly well.

Also that English striker (Wickham?) could have had a hat trick.

Good to see young English talent, some of them look good. <3 Josh McEachran.

"England need to start believing that they can win a major tournament. If they do that with the players they have, they will be very dangerous. After so many years of hurt and disappointment you have to get the belief back, without it you won't win anything.''

very true tbh

England and Spain both have the same problem over and over: hyped to the skies by the press before the tournaments, then shredded to pieces by the same journalists if they dont win it.

great news, would be fantastic if the whole country did it. not just because of the triesman stuff but because it's a detestable paper.

It would be truly odd if Warnock goes to the World Cup as back-up left back. I like him, he's been a good signing for Villa but he's only played 15 minutes of international football, and that was two years ago.

Capello seems to be Sven Mark II.

I have to say not taking Theo as a impact sub is a mistake while i dont think he deserved a starting place you could have dropped Defoe and taken a player with more utility.

Capello's is starting to annoy me to be fair!!!

Adam Johnson is far more complete than theo, lennon and SWP.

He better be in the fucking squad, he's the only top english player who has close control and the ability to take on people with the ball at his feet and then provide and end product with either foot.

Fucking shit fucking sucks! We are playing like shit and our manager is doing fuck all, but random subs! Eriksen was playing quite well in the first half, but was subbed for Rommedahl who has been a complete disaster! Christian Poulsen subbed for Martin Jørgensen, who is playing for a team that just got relegated in the danish league!

Hopefully Bendtner and Simon Kjær will be ready when we meet Holland and Agger will stop with the sloppy defense!

Lennon and SWP are both just as good as impact subs, slightly less pace but much better end product.

Joe Cole offers a much better range of options than Walcott.

Johnson does not have enough experience at a high level though, he is definitely a shoe in for the future, I would not mind him going as an option however.

After seeing the impact Theo had in games like Barcelona i have to disagree on both there. He has not had a great season but he has been great as a sub turning 4 or 5 games on there arse.

I would not take Theo over Cole but i would over Defoe.

And Lennon was superb for the first half of the season before injury, he looked a shoe in for the England Squad, if he can regain even half that form then it destroys any arguement about Walcott. Lennon was doing it consistently, Walcott turns up at random.

How would you guys like to see England line up in the world cup then? Personally I'd like to see 5 in midfield to begin with then bring on crouchy/defoe depending on how things are going. Something like:

James, Johnson, Rio, Terry, A.Cole, Lennon, Lampard, Barry, Gerrard, J.Cole, Rooney.

Sounds good ileks, Carrick will start until Barry is fit (second or third game apparently). I'd have Hart in goal all day long over James though.

SWP, Crouch or J Cole could all fill the 2nd striker role, or the wing role for swp and cole.

I think it looks more likely that Capello will stick to a 4-4-2 though, which is a shame.

And Theo has been excellent as a Sub since coming back from a long injury lay off. I am again not saying start him just take him as a Sub.

But why? You don't need that many impact subs, he has Lennon and SWP, as well as J Cole that can all fulfil that job. If Jonhson goes then he is another that can. All are muich better footballers than Walcott, if not as fast. Running is not everything.

He can only take 23 players, and he has had two weeks to see them in training, if walnut is not going, then he clearly has not done enough. Maybe in 2 years at the EURO's he may have developed his game and be a shoe in, but don't take him just because of his pace.

All of our wingers are pure pesh (not including Johnson!!!!) They are all terribly inconsistent, and have been their whole careers. I get that they have pace, but I am sorry a professional footballer like Lennon, Walcott and SWp have wathced Beckham train and then left the training ground while Beckham stays behind for more crossing/set piece practice. They simply don't have the heart or the desire to be the best.

Look at Milner, when he was at Newcastle he had all the work rate and ability, but his final ball was a disgrace, he moved to Villa and started putting in the extra time to improve.

Oh and, nearly forgot. Milner down the right, Lennon as a sub for him.

He's not according to latest reports. Still not official, but Walnut, Jonhson, Bent and Baines all confirmed as out through their families, clubs or agents.
