PC Health Check App (Direct link to MSI)

If you run it and you get an error saying you need TPM installed - Go into your BIOS and into either security/advanced and enable it. Once done reboot and you're sorted.

New start bar:

Better snapping:

Native Teams integration:

1624602078913.png

- Native Android apps support
- A les shitty Widgets solution
- Working multi-desktop
- Grouped tabs (e.g. if you use 5 apps for 1 thing and log off, once you log back on you press a button and those all link together so you know what you had open)

It should be available in the dev channel already, beta from the 28th~ and release at some point.

That has thrown a lot of people (Even me) - But as soon as you set it to enabled in your BIOS it works. It just needs to know that you can support it - No idea why.

Looks like I'll be staying on Windows 10 if nothing changes because my still functional PC that is a bit old handles it just fine.

I don't think they're doing themselves any favours here. I'm not seeing a bunch of people wanting to turn their perfectly fine PC's into e-waste so they can get rounded corners

With the chip shortage its a bad time to move.

Centralised start menu will take a long time to get used to. It's been on the left for how many years?

apparently the leaked build showed there was a setting to put it on the left if you prefer. not sure if that will make it to the release version though

It just doesn't make sense to me but I'd rather old Windows than current Linux on a desktop

Don't see any reason not to whack it on as it's free.

It'll be a nice little change is all.

Gaming benchmarks?
Meh. They don't do games that push PC's nowadays.

I think they invented 4k just to keep PC fanbois buying graphics cards because 280fps was getting silly ;)

That's the bit, so would I, if it wasn't giving my perfectly good hardware a "meh" response for no real reason.

The new taskbar put me off a bit.. I hope you can customize it to put it back to like Windows 10... don't like how it's in the centre.

On a plus side! glad its free again lol.

Do you actually use start menu anyhow? I feel like the only thing I use it for is to go to settings.

I see no point in adopting it early, I did with Win10 because 7 was showing its age and 8 was just a mess.

I quite like the place win10 is in at the moment.

So I'm pretty much an edge case for UI as there are still things that don't behave on W10 for the way I run it... I'm hoping w11 lets me put it at the top (middle)

When W11 hits the beta channel I'll download it, mostly because it's something which I'd rather know the ins and outs of than just not be opinionated on. It's testing all the development/build software accessibility and other dull things which I find interesting.

Example of annoying thing 1: - This should really be top left..

Annoying thing 2: This should really be top right...

Got it running, UI is sluggish sometimes - Imagine that'll be fixed before we hit release.

Widgets are a thing.. (Fucking photo of carbs making me sad)

The auto-hiding task bar is quite nice:

Turning it off is nice:

Notifications are a bit cleaner. It'd be nice if you got a flash/prompt if a new alert appears. Also if you get new messages in teams (If you're going without the task bar) you can't tell if as there's no prompt.

If anyone wants to see anything specific just shout.

You can also "Test Drive" Windows 11 using this website:

It's not a remote desktop or anything like that but will give a bit of an idea of Win 11.
Very limited interactions though

Been using it as my daily driver.

The most annoying issue is the fact the default sound device doesn't persist between upgrades. Outside of that it's MUCH better (Performance wise) than it even was 2 weeks ago.
