I quite like the liberal attitude to business regulation, it's doing me and my career a lot of good at the moment. I think what they have done to education is disgusting, however. Dumbing down exams (age old practice, but they dont have to continue it), dumbing down university entrance thresholds. Trying to make us think that everyone is equal (we are not, I am smarter than some of you courtesy of my genes and some of you are smarter than me for similar reasons, as well as upbringing) wastes time and money and stops the clever shining and the thick getting the proper help they need.

Failing to support struggling pure science university departments is dispickable, if anything deserves a handout its a struggling physics or chemistry department. Boosting "university graduate" numbers by creating more and easier media studies courses helps no one, convinces no one and just pisses everyone off. Not to mention it stops the retards realising they are never going anywhere in life and actually getting used to the fact at 16 and becoming skilled labour.

Labour has epic failed on the NHS, transport, education and the armed forces, in contrast they've succeeded in...following decades old conservative policy while having much shinier press releases, while encouraging debt to keep the economy looking healthy...that worked well.

Give me a proper answer instead of copying and pasting from the bbc pet zoo website.

Handily, I came up with it myself and I regard it "proper". If you're incapable of seeing the meaning that's not my fault.

Perhaps you were brought up in a school like this one?

I like what you said apart from the first sentence. I don't believe there is a liberal attitude to business regulation. When Labour first came in I was happily running a 1-man LTD business, paying my taxes on time and providing a service.

One of the first things they did was clamp down on 1-man LTD's and they've been turning the thumbscrews year-on-year ever since.

I've jacked it all in for a while because of my leg injury but I'd seriously consider the pros and cons of opening another business because of the hoops you now have to jump through because of being a small business owner.

Dole for me! Time to get some of that over-tax back! ;)

Long words in this thread :(

I always think of the southpark episode "Douche and Turd". Yes, I know, southpark, and the episode name, probably wont exactly kindle great responses from people who post in this thread, however if you do watch it I think you'd be quite suprised about the astute points it has regarding voting and the people being elected.

I dont know who t ogo for between labour and conservatives. I worry that Cameron wont be much better than Tony Blair was, if hes like Blair then we may as well stick with Brown in a way. On the other hand I'm not certain about how much the PM influences his party - while I like brown I hate the party he represents, and vice versa for the Tories.

The lib dems just make me laugh though.

Wasnt aware of the small business stuff - sorry to hear it tbh. I was referring to big business (of which I am a well looked after employee). You cant really blame me for disliking the govenment that allows me to pursue an interesting and exciting career that lets me live as I wish (more or less).

they will get into power i think as there is no real oppoition
however i hope that it will be more of an equal number of seats so that they cant just railroad through policy after policy with noone able to oppose them

i will probably vote concervative for this reason, not because i support the party but another labour majority will ruin this country permanently

They can take my finger prints and give me an ID card if it cuts down on 2% of the shit that bad people get up to then its a success.

TBH they haven't really done much for big business either, apart from raise costs (like holiday pay for temps and other ridiculous wheezes). My working life since Uni has been five years under the Tories and nearly eleven under labour, and I can't think of any areas where I've had cause to thank Labour OR the tories for anything, but you have to bear in mind the 'liberal' environment you praise is only in place because of earlier Tory deregulation; labour have had a light touch by the standards of previous labour governments, but they're still more inclined to interfere than any Tory government.

They could cut down on way more than 2% of "the shit bad people get up to" simply by enforcing the laws they already have, and actually policing the streets and investigating crime.

Why instigate such a draconian change when small alterations would have a much better impact?

I dont know, if I am being honest I wouldnt know where to start if I was to be in charge.

My only problem with this country that actually does annoy me is the lack of respect the youth culture has for authority figures, Police and teachers need to be given the ability to scare the hell out of them at a young age.

What conspiracy? All that is real, check the various acts if you feel so obliged Calaen. They are freely availible on the web to read. espeically the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act of 2001.

Well I am going to vote for the Tories, but that's because I'm a right winger who hates Guardian readers.

Hate is such a strong word, I wub you really, arguing would be boring if everyone had the same views. Bring balance to the world! I do admittedly use the Guardian web site a lot for my news as the BBC new site seems dumbed down in comparison. But the "comment is free" section often has articles that I just want to flame. Especially when that Polly Toynbee woman spouts her bag o crap. Conservative home is also a good site for the political stuff.

Comment is free has tonnes of columns that are total bollocks but then there are hundreds of columnists on it. Theo Hobson is a real pet hate of mine - religious fuckwittery of the highest order.

It wont though because under labour they aren't actually allowed to punish the little turds that cause all the problems even if they did there wouldn't be enough police or prisons to deal with it.

Don;t be silly raven, getting chavs and thugs to sign a little piece of paper saying they won't be naughty again is a perfectly sensible policy!

I am seriously thinking of voting Liberal in the next election just because I know more about their policies than i do conservative. I have always voted conservative in the past but just have no idea what they are about these days, they seem to base all their policy decisions on how they can back slap each other over labour fuck ups.

I detest spineless lefties more than anything though so will probably wait and see if there are any decent independents in my area.

And where do you draw the line at the level of information you supply?

I don't have a limit, they can have what they want my life is boring as fuck.

I do not care if they know I watch mature porn even though I have a wife, I don't care if they know I listen to Hanson.

Would you care if they lost all that information and a gang of russians used it to fake your identity, remortgage your house and fuck off with the cash? Because its entirely possible and nearly happened recently with those dipshits over at the inland rev.

I probably would but the simple fact of the matter is that the chances of it actually happening to me are very slim.

Ah. That's it. Nothing worth protecting eh?

Add to that absolutely zero concern for anyone else's problems or worries and you have an underlying cause of why Britain is a big pile of shit right now...
