Why are the soloers gone?

The solo'ers are gone because:

- getting steam rolled by a FG isn't funny,
- gettint steam rolled by a stealther zerg isn't funny,
- playing 1 hour for 1000 realm points as a RR2 isn't funny,
- the game isn't balanced towards soloing, there are classes one can never beat.

Agree, but just becos it isnt funny doesent mean soloers should be off limits to every duo+

The ones saying this is a war game and so on, you need your head checked or should read a bit of Sun Tzu for example.

sure wars can be bound to rules if ALL parties agree with it. you think some random soldier could say "ok lets fight only in the dark now and wear all pink!"? If you ask nicely if someone doesn't want to add, im sure most of them won't. But you just can't expect it from everyone. Yes maybe thats a bit sad but well, it will never change.

Made 5k in about 15 mins solo on rr3 vamp (dinged rr4 too xD) this evening.

It's not tht hard to solo altho the IRvR does make it slightly more challenging.

Looking at DAoC as a wargame is fine, but that doesn't mean you always have to kill every red name you see.
Sure, i often kill soloers too when i duo, even though i consider myself to be a soloer and i hate it when i get ganked myself.
However i do try not to kill the same soloer over and over and over again when i am duoing or trioing. After all it's no fun for me or for the person on the other side.
If the one i'm duoing with says it's war and we should kill everyone, i try to talk him into not doing it.
That's probably one of the reasons i don't group as much anymore and why i don't group too much with people i don't know.
After playing the game for so long, you kinda forget about the whole war thing and just play it to have some fun. RPs are just an extra bonus for me.
I no longer look at albs and hibs as the enemies, like i used to, but other players that i'm playing against.
As cheesy as it may sound, i want both me and the ones i'm playing against to have fun.

I don't know how many new players that are out there now, but i'm sure there's a lot of casual players that doesn't RvR as much as some of us do.
For them it's still exiting to see an enemy and to kill it. I try to remember that, but it's not always easy.
Getting killed by a few low RR people that doesn't have a template worth a few hundred P doesn't bother me _that_ much though.
It's the high RR ones that are adding on you, not because they want to help their realmmates, but because they obviously want a piece of the RPs, that really pisses me off. Same goes for some of the set groups that will run after a soloer across half a zone if they have to.
Some of those i think are using the "it's a war meights" excuse as well, to make their adding/ganking more legit.

This got a little longer than was intended.
I still solo and always will. I get pissed of when i get added on too much, but i never make a big fuss about it and i get over it quickly.
I'll never PM or yell at a mid that adds on my fight.
If some albs or hibs add on me or gank me for the Xth time, i may give them a few /laugh or /dismiss, but that's it.

I think the reason i don't play as much as i used to, is that i'm simply getting bored of the game and need a few days break now and then.

one of the hardest things u can do in daoc is get the title solo enforcer. anyone who has this has been to hell and back and won. u dont get this title though for any other reason than you actually enjoy playing your toon on you own. its too big a challenge to get it for epeen purposes.

I gave up on shade, ranger and minstrel. Getting zerged 8/10 fights is not worth the time or money put into the game. So now I'm playing FPS games and freeshard daoc instead - find it to be alot better tbh

Well so far tonight the 'solo zone' revival has been going well, only a few people but the fights are fun and evenly matched, I hope more make the effort to revive it.

a) Im not melee immune, far from it, theres a great many melee types who can and/or have beaten me 1v1, its just that theres not many high RR players of those classes that I meet solo.
The short-lived solo zone proved this point, I lost several fights against good players there.

b) Where exactly have I stated that I think a high RR armsman vs 1 stealther is a fair fight?
Just because theres some that are brave enough or stupid enough to attack me alone does not mean I forced them to, or thought it was a fair fight. But if they attack me i'll happily fight and kill them just like anybody else would lol.
That does not mean I thought they had a fair chance, however in those circumstances I do try and save as many timers as possible. After all I may need them later, its common sense.

People seem to be under the impression that I have some uber ability that 'forces' weak enemies to attack me lol, heck I wish I did.

Fact is i'll happily leave anyone alone that does not want to fight me, stealthers or visuals, they only need to say no or cry or something. No point attacking me then whining when they lose that they never had a chance in the first place, geesh.

you did say something about ppl adding on "fair" fights... but if your fights arent fair in the first place why do you mind ppl adding on you?
