Played a lot of Diablo 1 (including Ironman, naked and beyond naked style)
Played some Red Alert (1) on Case's Ladder
Played Starcraft online but mostly with friends and people from the Battle.net channels I hanged in :)
Played some Diablo II, but I didn't really like it that much. In my SC/D2 period I also spent a lot of time creating my Battle.net bot which I used to chat and moderate channels. Actually got a couple of thousand other people to use it too :p

All that was under nickname SubSpace.

DAoC is my first MMORPG and I figured I'd choose a somewhat more appropriate nickname for that purpose. SubSpace was just too sci-fi geeky for a mythological world, and on top of that the middle caps is impossible in DAoC.
I actually named my first character Sub but cancelled at the confirmation screen to create Thorarin :p
At first it was really hard not to respond when someone mentioned Sub (the Berserker), as people had been calling me that for 11 years of my online life, but I guess you get used to everything ;)

This is a bit off topic but my "online-life" started in so called scene, I mostly made BBS-doors / AmigaDOS utilities as a hobby, the name (handle) I used was mamba/MST^DCS.

After that I had a few years of strong IRL, didn't even have a computer myself. Got one later on as I needed it for work and bought diablo 2 where I played euro hc since start as *sahokas (had many RAID-babas which usually died in duels + some other gimps). A while before daoc euro release I kinda destroyed the game for myself by using the dupe exploits, decided it was the last game I cheated on and started daoc instead.

Asherons Call

Played Asherons Call on Frostfell Server for about 3 years - Main character was 'Tarik '- lev 90'ish when I quit - also had 'Talim' lev 50'ish.

Then played AC2 on Frostfell for about 6 months - got 2 toons to lev 50 'Talim'- Human/Defender and 'Bigolelump' Lugian Melee/sage.

I like the name Talim. :D

Also tried AO and Everquest in the past - hated em both.

DAOC is the most challenging of these MMRPG's - it's also the most frustrating and annoying.

First PC experience started with playing a lot of Settlers 1 (Siedlers called as well I think) and a lot of Doom 1 & 2, Heretic, Hexen etc. Those summers with just a shotgun by your side in Doom 2 and blasting all your enemies away were loads of fun. At some time I got intrigued by the roleplaying (AD&D), made some small stories and adventures but never got into the role of being a dungeon master myself. After that I discovered there were also roleplaying games on the pc (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Night etc. etc.) played some strategy games as well like warcraft, starcraft and age of empires. Then when I went to college I met more people that loved playing games and chat about pc's (heaven!). We played a lot of Unreal and CS online (until the time CS got so bad it wasn't fun anymore) and we held some LANs for about 10-20 people we all knew IRL (best LANs imo). Had loads of fun until school was kinda over. Got the degree and now it's all kinda IRC based chat to keep in touch and now and then some events. At the end of college I discovered my first MMORPG, called DAOC. It was in open beta by then and I was so intrigued with it's concept that I basically wasted every spare time to play it. Loved those days back as a noob and having loads of fun.

Then the time came to look for a job and that wasn't as easy as most people think it is. Companies 90% don't respond back to your nice made letter or emails. I eventually got myself an assignment through a family member and I've worked on it since then. This worked quite well until I got so bored of DAOC that I quitted before this summer. And now boring myself behind the pc no spark to play any game but am looking forward to WoW.

I started out in the MMORPG world in a text MUD called DUMII, based in my hometown of Umeå. :) My MUD times were lots of fun--this was where wizards (i.e. the GMs) were awed and revered demi-gods that you still could aspire to join when you reached the top level (basically, the highest level you could exp to was Wizard, and if you helped create new zones you could be manually elevated above that). DUMII bloodied my tooth, so I played a few other MUDs including AustinMUD (a DikuMUD) and TorilMUD (Sojourn-based); TorilMUD was where I first used the name Belomar, on a Human Monk that became level 15 or so before I quit.

Having tried online RPGs, I moved on to the graphical ones. I helped beta-test Asheron's Call (I had an unarmed-combat fighter that was simply overpowered until they nerfed it late in the beta), but never picked it up after it went live. I briefly tried out EverQuest for a while (started with a Dark Elf Warrior since I was inspired by the Drizzt Do'Urden novels at the time, but ended up with a Hafling Druid), and then I went cold turkey and only played single-player RPGs such as Baldur's Gate I and II. Then I got wind of DAoC just as it went live on the European servers, and started playing here--the rest is history. ;)

Hey, we played UKLA and N&S quite a lot!

Yer I knew Alvin of course, but he disappeared when we split up never to be seen again as I remember.

I was number #9 to start with, think I changed to #5 after the original left. I was in it from the near beginning to to the end. #4 was by far the best, KD (#7) was a dude too.

Who were you in UKLA/N&S??

Played LoM as a wizzie by the same name, got him to lvl 26 I think. That was my first MMO, quit that at about the same time LeOmAn went from being a complete tw@t to being a complete whiney tw@t! (his "I was f***ed over by a m8, so now I'm gonna f*** all of you over, but don't hate me feel sorry for me instead" post on the LoM forums should've been preserved as a classic :flame: )

Came to DAoC when my older brother (Dreamshadow from LoM) told me about it, way back in open beta, started with an elf enchantments enchanter who died to greens most of the time!

Dunno what I'd go to if DAoC suddenly stopped, was dissapointed by SWG, saddened by WO stopping, undecided about WoW. Maybe I'd check out EQ2  But with luck DAoC will be around for a while yet.

My first brush with any MMO-like community would be Planetarion, which I played for two rounds back in 2001. It was all "fotm" at the school I was going to at the time.

My first proper MMO was DAoC... joined after SI, in the spring of 2002. Been playing since that, though with a long break while playing SWG (which got quick stale after a few months).

LvL200 Force Phantasy Star Online

Nice game. Then my amazing hard earned LvL56 Force was deleted by a blue screen of death that plagued the first version. I was very mad, very thirteen and went out and bought a cheat disk.

Hilarity ensued.

I had a marvellous five bedroom house in a place called Chislehurst and owned three pink convertable Mercedes and two lemon yellow Porsche Boxters. I even had three mini porsches for my kids. Oh how i loved seeing there smiling faces as they joyrode around my 5 acre garden. I also had a gorgeous secretary, Maureen, and i ended up having a loving affair with her. She was 73. I enjoyed walking in the countryside and meeting desperate women on the internet, wooing them with my vast amounts of cash and my above average middle aged looks. I enjoyed a pint of spitfire on a sunday afternoon with my roast lamb, and smoked old holborn from my pipe which has been handed down from generations. I read many many literary masterpieces like The Collins Oxford English Dictionary, Delia Smiths Cooking Course for beginners and The Sun amongst others. I also enjoyed playing snooker very much in my billiard room whilst having a refreshing cup of Yorkshire Tea. Yorkshire Tea was my favourite. I went to the gym three times a week to work of the extra poundage my pint of spitfire on a sunday threatened me with. There was some very nice friendly people there. I was a legs and bum man then. It was at this gym i met my wife...and then later Maureen. My eldest child, Samuel, is an avid fan of transformers and The Raggydolls. He will be 22 next week. I wish i could be there for his birthday to see what a man he has grown into.
When i am not down the gym, reading, drinking tea or whatever, i like to try and invent ways of teleporting atoms. Alas, this has already been done, but i want to find a more efficient way and teleport it further and then perhaps try it on a mouse.

This was my lovely perfect life before daoc.

Now i am thin and gaunt, live in a bedsit in Solihul am jobless and spend all my dole money on my internet connection to play daoc and eat pot noodles.
