There's no doubt in my mind that 99% of the bans and warnings are only given if there's enough evidence to sustain it. I'm sure he knows what he did wrong, but won't admit it to the guy that he borrowed the account from.

Kthxbye

That might be the case, we'll never know if their "guidelines" about proofs stay like they are.

Plz explain to me why you don't take a GM's word for it.

Do you know the guy being banned in game/IRL?

Has your toon been "wrongly" banned for getting "accidentally" stuck in a tree (which made me laugh IRL btw) and shooting every enemy that passed by?

Are you one of those people that don't trust any1? Asking for proof when you buy a bottle of Malibu Rum. It says 6% Coconut used in this drink!!! Where's the damn proof!!! OMGZOR GIFV PHOTOS!!!!

Because I don't know him and he might made a mistake.

No.

Give me 300 pound, I'll get u 900 back, trust me.

As long as their guidelines stay like this its only "mays" and "mights", short, guesses.

His friend using his account maybe did something wrong, he maybe didnt. None of us will know if nothing changes, so ppl split into those that believe the GMs blindly and those that still like to think for themselfes and actually make their own opinions about things.

If you ask me, the only thing the banned person did achieve is getting a GM's attention and I'm sure Requiel double-checked all the logs and the "proof" (yes Muldini, HIS proof) after reading all this. And judging from Req's previous posts here he would have withdrawn the ban if there had been made a mistake. Dont ya think?

Now I actually have to do some work again. But plz keep making comments! Gets me thru this dull friday!

Might be slightly off-topic, but these posts always make me giggle and I wanted to share something with the community;

An MMORPG is meant to be a game set in an immersive environment that mirrors (to a greater or lesser degree) a period in history (EVE), a pre-existing fantasy enviroment (SWG) or an original(ish) fantasy world (DAOC/WoW).

In a real world, there are rules. These break down into moral and physical laws. Moral laws are set by governments and physical ones are set by Nature/Gaia/God/Einstein/Whoever. The second type are 'self enforcing'. You can't travel faster than the speed of light for example (even with uber RL speedhacks!). The first kind need to be enforced and for that we have police, courts, armies etc.

You live in a community that decides certain things are acceptable (gardening, having a job, getting divorced) and some things are not (murder, rape, Synergy). None of these unacceptable things are physically impossible, but that doesn't mean it's okay to do them.

In EU DAOC, GOA are the Supreme Being, the Godhead, the final Court of Appeal and they decide what's right and what's not. If they decide that emote-spamming or speedhacks are against the spirit of the game, they don't need to 'fix' the game to make it impossible, any more than the UK Government needs to limit cars to 30mph to stop people speeding.

The response "it's in the game and if they can't be arsed to fix it, then I'm going to abuse it!!" is equivalent (in logic terms) of saying "I am physically capable of murdering someone so until the government cuts off my arms and legs and locks me in a small box I'm going to keep killing people".

The only reasons games like DAOC can work is because people follow rules of etiquette for the benefit of the game as a whole. When people abuse those rules to gain an advantage over others who want to follow the rules (ie radar) then it affects the whole balance of the game and ruins the experience for other, well-behaved players (people chain-ganking the DF merchants springs to mind).

In short...just because the game allows it doesn't mean that a) it's okay to do it, regardless of the effect on others and b) it won't get you the shitty end of a mighty banstick.

Just say no...
