Where'd my names go?

Hi,

Since the servers were patched I can no longer see names above peoples' heads. If I twist my camera enough I can see parts of my own name, and if people stand -right- next to me I can see theirs, but that's all. It appears as though my name, and everybody else's, is being projected 'behind' scenery, even if that scenery (say, a wall) is extremely far away from me.

Hard to describe, so I'm wondering if anybody else is encountering this? My hardware is a little out of date (voodoo 3 sys) but I've never had this problem until today. I've tried shift+N'ing a few times, I've tried reverting back to the old daoc-name-colour-thingy using /oldnamecolor, and so on - nothing seems to fix it.

It's nothing major, just very irritating, and it'd be great if somebody could help me fix it.

Might wanna look into updating your graphics card drivers and see if that helps.

Can't help, except to say I was using Voodoo 3 up to few months ago, and had no compass and very little scenery textures like you.

Bought gforce2 for 22 pounds english, diference is amazing :))
Surely you could stretch to that.

If not try http://www.voodoofiles.com/ for latest drivers, try 3rd party ones.

If you do go gforce, you must remove all mention of 3dfx/voodoo/glide2x from reg, before loading gforce drivers.

Hooboy..

Ok, so I downloaded and installed the latest 3rd party drivers I could find on voodoofiles.com, and my problem has been fixed. Moreso, infact, the game now looks as good as it did on my geforce 3. The graphics look really crisp and sharp and my walls and floors actually appear to have textures! Amazing.

However, my game now lags about twice as badly as most relic raids.

I've ticked and unticked the "I'm cheap and still own a 3dfx graphics card" option in the options screen and it hasn't helped. And that's about the only idea I had. Is there anyway I can keep these lubly new drivers but also have a daoc framerate that's measured in seconds?

Bummer, that's the prob, my voodoo worked quite well for a old 16mb device, cos it wasn't showing most of the textures, once a new driver gets it to process them, lagggggg!!!!

Right, ok, I played around with some different drivers from the site and everything is now the way it should be.

Thanks!
