Unless someone between the announcement and now has registered a BW account that is the same as your old forum nick so your old forum nick is now theirs.

actually Orin we considered that scenario and took what we considered to be the safest course - all the existing forum accounts are blocked as membership accounts if they don't exist already, so that someone can't nick your forum name...
A consequence of that is if you haven't got a membership acc yet, you'll need to get a different name to your forum one and 'attach' your existing old.username on the forums to your new membership account... a slight pain but better than allowing malicious people to nick our forum nicks ...
