In the summer I am stripping my living room floor and fireplace. The floor is old flagstones and the fireplace early Victorian. I have told the wife to put up with the cold, I really hate carpets.

Upstairs is oak floor boards but again covered in carpet...though I might need to see about getting the cavity between the downstairs ceiling and the upstairs floorboards insulated.

That's because we build things to LAST. None of this having to make new housing for people like you. Having said that, we don't make new housing at all anymore. Just completely unaffordable "luxury" apartments.

We have affordable cars. We also have underfloor heating, but are sensible enough to put suitable materials on the floor depending on it's usage. The slate would be fine in a kitchen for example.

Oh and to re-iterate the first point, how much cheaper would your Alfa be in the UK?

Heh - it had a weird mixed system where most of the ground floor was underfloor heated the rest central heating - it was just before christmas and extremely cold outside but there was no way to independantly control the two so it was either cool floors and freezing rooms or warm rooms and scalding floor...

my slate is awesome. wall to wall carpets suck ass tbh: the only real floors are wood or stone (fuck, this is a remark I'd expect Tom to make haha ) also, to let you of my GT and future Brera would be so dirt cheap it's unreal. only justifiable though, as the steering wheel's on the wrong side...now wonder they pay you to drive the cars
