When my hunter is lvled up again i will be making a warrior also as i had one before to and i like it..

THis time Im choosing between a Troll or a dwarf i know dwarf is going to be a better blocker since higher dex but im also thinking troll will do more dmg

the spec i was thinking about looks like this
weapon 41
shield 50
parry 40


Im interested in hearing the differences between dwarf and troll mostly but you are welcome to discuss spec also..

now think and post so i will have a easier decision as time comes for the warrior to enter the stage..

take into the fact that warriors group mostly and there for often are buffed.. also this will be my more of PvE character then PvP..

i have a 50 troll warrior, none-sc'd i have 241 str... id say it depends on what role u will want to be playing, if defensive i would go for dwarf.. if u like doing higher damage.. troll.. i wudnt take the weapon down if i were u either... especially if your going in sword, need atleast 44 it is for PR (polar rift) ... i went 50 for ragnarok sacrificing a bit of defence.. but i still parry quite alot even only with MOP1, can sort the defence out easily if u get MOB3 + MOP2.. MOP = mastery of parry not pain good luck...

warrior got 3% more Ws then any other main tank....be sure too take advantage of it. Less WS will make u miss more etc.


dont really care if its a pve char...50weapon, 50shield, rest parry(28?) is a very good pve/pve spec aswell.


troll for dmg and WS, kobbi for lots of blocks(blockbot?)

i only have 28+11 in parry and i dunno why but i parry more then i block ?

use hammer to ( ROX ) and the plate+ to hit is just 1 of many reasons i have it. cool styles for a defensive char.

maybe i would go with the troll if its pve, and the dorf if is pvp, (but im happy with my norse warrior!)

Hmm

I have a troll warrior - going weapon to level shield to one under atm and at lvl 29 he misses ALOT. I think I have a 50% miss rate (almost) - Am I expecting too much?

I thought mid weapons went off str - so dex should have little if anything to do with miss rate - making troll the best (on paper) race for warriors.

Granted, when he hits - he hits hard - but it still seems like he's missing too much - I am wondering if I need to look at boosting dex

i would say your just unlucky cleeve, i got a 45dwarf warrior atm am specing him 50hammer/42shield/39parry.
I find that my weapon skill isnt that much lower than most troll warriors atm and i have a fair few hit points more than them.
So in my opinion dwarf is probally the best race to go for as a warrior.

Tempted to respec at 40 for hammer.

My spec at present is
Axe 29 +5 (with hand cleaver) 29 +3 (with 2h cleaver)
Shield 28 +1
Parry 5 +1

I have DF bought armour - doesn't seem worth buying sc crafted armour for pve, and I seem to grow out of it so quickly its not really a good investment atm.

I am going with Valkyrie shield with pillager/raider chain as backup style, or cleeve/thyrms strength with pillager/raider chain as backup style with 2 hand.

Troll Warrior, 50 Hammer, 50 Shield, rest in parry. Trust me...when you brutalise an infil or a mage for 300+ they are going to cry.

If an infil PA's you...engage immediately, don't strike back, wait for that block then brutalise, then 2-H...and teach him a painful lesson.

50hammer/42shield/39parry if you want a farm bot (only pve)
50hammer/50shield/28parry for rvr is a must

if you don't go 50 weapon you are making a misstake. Warriors have the highest weapon skill in the game so you might aswell take advantage of it.
If you want to rvr with your warrior you should choose kobold. A warriors role isn't to deal as much damage as possible, it is to guard your mates and a kobold have much higher blockrate. If you are only concidering troll or dwarf go dwarf
btw, this is not IMO. it's a fact

I agree with going 50 in weapon. But say you really want lower weapon, then by all means go at least 44 if you are using hammer to get Sledgehammer.

On race: I really believe that at level 50 with capped sc gear (and maybe even buffed) the difference in weaponskill and hp are so minimal that one should base the race choice on what race you just like most.

My Warrior is going 50 Shield / 50 Sword, rest parry.

50 Shield to block as much as poss.

50 Sword, my Zerker uses axes and my Healer a Hammer, so Sword is a nice change.

im a norse warrior, im 50 sword 50 shield rest parry and i love it. im in full SC with everything capped.

brutilize + ragnerock for the win. having AFS (5.7 speed 2h sword) kinda helps a bit dealing nice damage.

people tell me to respec hammer for rvr, but im very happy with my spec and have no intention of respeccing for a long time to come.... also, the hammer style effects are the worst looking in the game imo, and we all know: looks > everything

Well, sword is totally out of question imho if your are only the slightest bit interested in pve. Taunt style with no to-hit on a warrior sucks monkeyballs in pve.

if u havent started him yet and plan a /level make sure u get the 2-5 autotrains in weap then u can go 50/50/29

And to the one who said he parried more than blocked..there can be a very easy explanation....parry is before block in the defensive order so the hits u parry might have been blocked if the parry had failed (if that makes any sense )

Oh and hammer is the way to go imo

Race: Hmm makes very little difrence really, Norse and Dwarf are just too alike to say either is better. Your talking 10 Con and 10 Str in the difirence, miniscual. For PvE id suggest going Norse, not kobold. Why? Because they only benefit Kobold has is 20 extra dex, versus 20str and 20con, Quickness is negilible because it caps the Haste effect at 250qui. So ok Norse wont "technically" block as much as a Kobold, but this game has so much Dice rolling involved I bet you wouldnt notice the difirence between Norse and Kobold blocking unless tested 1000 hits on a door or something, remember its only 20 dex!

Other option is Troll, again hes going to block less than norse/dwarf/kobold but only on paper. You play it ingame and i could get lucky and block every kobold hit and then he blocks none of my Troll hits. Your weaponskill as a troll will be rediculous tho. So this is a good choice for RvR, as you just slam then beat em with your 2hander.

Weapon choices, well im sword atm and PvE yes it does suck, but in one of the up and comming patches, Draw Out gets a high to-hit bonus which is pretty damn nifty combined with its high(medium maybe?) damage.

Anyway..

Hammer: For PvE its good since alot of DF mobs weak to Crush and low end usage styles. For RvR its also nice since Back Positional has a Snare style.

Sword: For RvR nice since it has very hard hitting back positional, and nice Parry chain. After style review patch should be pretty standard in PvE.

Axe: Doesnt shine stronger over Sword in RvR or Hammer in PvE, but does the job fine. Has some nice style tho for soloing in RvR, Havoc->Tyr's Fury.

Specs: Cant really go wrong with a Warrior

50weap 50shield 28Parry (great allrounder)
50weap 42shield 39Parry (pretty much the same, although the 50 shield is nice for better guard in RvR)
44weap 44shield 44parry (great if you go Hammer for PvE, if your fully buffed and SC'ed no matter what race you are, in PvE i doubt you will get scraped ever :x )

But tbh, Warrior is one of the best made classes imo in the game, theres very little you can do too actually gimp them. Expect speccing 50 thrown ;x

N.B. Wrong race choice will NOT gimp you

and on the parry queries, it's useless so don't think going 42 shield and then raises parry will make you better, higherparry/lower shield also mucks up your chance to use brutalise, a must use style particularly in solo rvr.
