Romantic is definately the way to go, you have to have at least one special day per year as a couple, just buy all the stuff in advance so you don't get ripped off by the shops. Oh and buy your Valentines cards after the 14th for 1/4 the price and then save them for next year!

I find that events like this, and for example modern santamas, promote too much on the non-standard caring of people.
