It doesn't say "it's spelled like this here but if you're feeling a bit mad just go ahead and spell it however you like". How the word is spelled in the dictionary of whatever language you're looking it up in is the recognised, right way of spelling it.

Dictionaries just list the conventional way of spelling.
They have no authority..there is no absolute way to spell and many disagree anyway.
Thats one of the strengths of the English language..its fluidity.
Even spelling competitions announce what dictionary they will be using as reference for the accepted way to spell a word.
But as usual..you are again showing your willingness to roll over to percieved authority and absolutes.

If you want to change how a word is spelt..simply get yourself well known..start a new way to spell..say cream...start writing it as creem..if it catches on and enough people do it, then that will be the new way to spell it.
Being phonetic obviously helps.
Trying to spell it xxfg is very unlikely.

English from only 200 years ago is very different to now.
