No one actually shot at trump this time though, and calling the guy a democrat is a bit of a stretch

I read a Grauniad article this morning and they said he was a democrat voter. 🤷

I mean, I wasn't being entirely serious, but hey ho :)

Just a man on holiday from Hawaii with a gun, I thought that's what the NRA and republican party was all about

Just a normal guy who wants to stand up for Ukraine and doesn't want a Government sponsored by the Kremlin.

A normal guy who takes an automatic rifle and a go-pro to a golf course to get ready to shoot a presidential candidate?

Your definition of "normal" guy is a bit out of whack :)

I do see a trend of people not really caring that Trump is getting shot at. To be fair, I'm one of them, but at least I do recognise it in myself...

Why did the Secret Service shoot at him? Surely they should have used thoughts and prayers.

Data continuing to make my point unfortunately :(

It's really tough these days. Every time I get a raise, I get a rent increase for 2-3 times my raise. I'm making more money, but saving less and less. And I'm in the top 10%. Anyone in the bottom half is hurting, and that's probably why Trump will win.

But the idea that Trump is the solution to this is the most ridiculous notion ever.

It's all about tax breaks for the rich so they can get the shit jobs on the rise whilst pocketing a large amounts.

It's a shame Kamala can't be more left leaning and spend lots into showing people why it's a better solution for the poorer people in American society.

The American dream is dead, the idea that it can somehow be revived is ridiculous, it's become what the Founding Fathers fought to stop.

Almost as ridiculous as the notion that the Democrats are anything other than part of the problem.

This graph from that article:

It doesn't matter who is in charge - there's been no material difference between them.

I keep saying that, but it keeps going over people's heads. So what if Trump is "objectively worse" - he is. But it's going to make fuck all difference to most people's lives if Trump wins or Democrats win. And Trump may well win because in the absence of any solutions to people's problems at least he's lying in plain sight and saying he's going to kick people some people hate.

The democrats? Like Labour. What real change do they offer?

The graph is the answer - none. It doesn't matter who's in charge. Not in any material way.

Look at what @SilverHood said @Gwadien:

The idea that the Democrats are going to do anything about this is just you lying to yourself isn't it.

The fact that Trump is worse isn't under debate here. We all agree on that...

Why would anyone expect their wages to rise in line with productivity? Note when that graph started to diverge. Automation has driven massive improvements in productivity since the 70s; of course that gap has widened. That's a really stupid graph.

What matters is disposable income; what you can get for your money is all that really matters, and until quite recently the answer was "more and more"; it's the last 15 years when it's all started to go titsup, but it's not because of productivity divergence.

Automation doesn't explain it all @DaGaffer but even if it did - the fruits of the gains have not only not been shared equally - it's been shared less and less equally as time has gone on.

Wealth is getting more and more concentrated. Productivity gains going into the pockets of the rich is a bit of the equation. But pick pretty much whatever graph you care to pick and they all tell the same story.

15 years? Nah. Long before the crash. Before Blair's government tbh.

Oops the US did it again?

It certainly looks like it is heading that way, it is rather stunning that our leaders will have to put up with this utter cunt again. This is a quote from a voter CNN got:

Denzel Kismayo, 30: Kismayo and his family immigrated to the US from Kenya. A registered Republican in Arizona who voted for President Joe Biden in 2020, Kismayo said he’s supporting Donald Trump because he believes the former president will make the economy better, lower the price of gas and groceries, and that other countries respected the US under his presidency. He also liked that Trump took on criminal reform. But he felt that women should make their own decisions on the issue of abortion.

It reminds me of the Boris election…. Except if republicans take both houses there will be no checks or balances …

As much as people may dislike Boris he isn't on the same scale as Trump, plus we didn't and wouldn't vote him in for a second term.
