Because of all this type of incidents im immediately suspicious when anyone campaigns on "protect the children" or "family values" type of ideas. Seems to be some sort of projection of their own dirty secrets
To be fair it sounds like he was just wanking off to porn on his phone whilst near a school. Not that that’s the sort of thing he should be doing.

Science has shown - the states that come down hardest against internet porn / complain most loudly about it - have the highest proportion of actual subscribers to internet porn in their populations.

I mean. Who actually subscribes to porn? Other than @Wij?

In other non-news - when you tell humans they shouldn't be doing something then a large proportion of them really want to do it. When Labour reclassified cannabis as class-A it's use went up. When the catholic church said "you really shouldn't finger little boys" I'm pretty sure all that happened was that priests started to do a better job of covering it up. I mean - the church recently prosecuted a guy who's crime was pointing out a safeguarding issues to a school (you've a paedo priest working for you!) - $400k is quite a large fine for him telling the school the truth eh?

Using his free speech to spread nasty lies about someone who was attacked with a hammer. Nice:
Or he re-tweeted an opinion article by a staff writer of a local Santa Monica newspaper:

I mean, yes. It's a shitty local rag. But I don't have a problem with him retweeting a link - nor do I have a problem with people saying it's a load of shit. That's how free speech works.

Of course, people counter with "but people start thinking like that" - but it's always other people isn't it. Never them.

Its up to Twitter but now that its his toy i guess he can spout whatever he likes on the platform

As long as people use it advertisers wont give a shit, sure they'll ummm and aaah but as long as it makes them money they wont mind

The idea that it matters one flying fuck what a guy was doing at home when some radicalized terrorist (this is what it was called when an MP was stabbed remember?) attacks someone is just a pathetic attempt to change the story

I’m not saying he can’t do it. Just that he’s using it to be a prick.

The assertion in the opinion piece is that (on the back of him apparently being done DUI with a male passenger some time ago) Mr Pelosi's house wasn't broken into - that the lad in the house was a male prostitute, was nekked but for underwear and it was the Pelosi's hammer.

Of course, it could be an absolute pile of shit - but if we're collaring people for quoting stories from local newspapers and complaining that they're abusing their "free speech" then that's a bit of bullshit IMO. Musk is a cunt IMO - but read his post again - it's just really tame.

And remember - twitter is a gossip platform. This is gossip.

It's bullshit. He claims to be all about this "online town square" free speech utopia and the first thing he does is try to stoke up the far right nutjobs with unsubstantiated (and most likely completely fabricated) shit that they've been feverishly sharing amongst themselves since the attack happened. Not only that but he's sharing it directly at Hillary Clinton, one of the right's main targets of hatred. And what does it matter anyway? Who fucking cares what the 82 year old guy was doing when he was attacked with a hammer by one of the aforementioned far right nutjobs, demanding to know where his wife was?

He's already been told as much by the EU and the UK - just because he owns the company (and it's not even clear how much he owns, Saudi Arabia think they're the 2nd biggest investor since the sale which only adds to the insanity), he has a duty of care and he's going to find out that he can't just do whatever he wants. If nothing from the regulatory side, advertisers and users will abandon the platform and he'll be left holding a very expensive clone of Gab.

As do the people who use a gossip facility to stop putting so much stock by gossip.

Twitter exists on controversy alone m8. It's a fucking shitshow by design. It's a bit rich to complain about the thing doing the very thing it's designed to do.

That article is just a plain "twitter users are fuck-heads" piece. Compared to what it says about twitter users - what they dish out to Elon is gentle prodding with cotton wool.

In other non-shocking news, according to that article America's government - right or left - is the biggest danger to free speech. (I agree - in just the same way that they're the biggest actual danger to Americans. (but nobody likes that fact - because they're too busy getting angry about shit people say on gossip platforms)).
