Um - he's set a precedent that you can fire missiles at a US military base and you don't get hit back. That will have long-term consequences.

The problem is that Trump isn't winning, he's losing.

The Iranian regime gets all it's legitimacy and support from having an anti-American rhetoric which is backed up with historical evidence, so it's quite easy for the Iranians to say it's either a hard line Islamic Dictatorship, or it's a democratic puppet state to America.

When you start killing Iranians and ramping up the threats then you're just hardening Iranian resolve against America.

The best thing America could have done in the very first place is just backed out and allowed Iran to destroy itself and covertly build something that's more pro-West from the ashes, covertly.

I also think people massively underestimate Iran and their ability to wage war far away from their borders by using terrorism; you could nuke Tehran, but the damage that would have compared to having a few suicide bombers going off across major western cities is negligible. They could end democracy, liberalism and multiculturalism, but I suppose that's what you want @Job
