The Sarah Jeong thing is just another 4chan op to whip up outrage. She made some dumb jokes in the past like the guardians of the galaxy bloke did. There's no evidence it made any difference to any of her work and she isn't a politician from the left either. She's a journalist.
Maxine Waters didn't say anything about white people. She said to protest members of the Trump administration until they stop deliberately talking kids from their parents. How is that anti-white, anti-man or anti-straight?
And it was still just a shit joke. Not related to her output for NYT at all. How does it show that 'left' policies are anti-white?
It doesn't show left policies are anti-white, the left's policies are anti-racist, and she was being racist, unless we're saying only whites can be racist, and given some of the defences of her, apparently we are. Which doesn't really fly does it?
That was my point. It doesn't show left policies are anti-white
I think it's more about what @Wij said to be honest; politicians SHOULD be told off for this, they're public servants, private employees are employees and it should be down to the company to do something about it.
It's the new era we've moved into where people are checking everyones internet history, in a couple of years, if we continue to pick up on every case, no-one will have a job.
So do you actually think she hates all white people or are you just arguing for the sake of it?Um normally if you are responding to a tweet you respond directly to it, rather than starting a new one and slating an entire group of people.
Oh, and you take the piss out of Breitbart and post a link from Vox?
OK since this has been brought up, and it's still nothing to do with the original point, but let's run with it a minute.
The New York Times just shut down a major bullying tactic of the alt-right
Her tweets were only racist of you take them out of context and insist that nothing can be sarcastic unless it is enclosed in sarcasm tags. She was responding to people being racist to her and using their language back at them.
It's manufactured outrage to shut up someone the trolls don't like. But sure Job. The left are the ones increasing the umbrella of offence while the right marches on.
So do you actually think she hates all white people or are you just arguing for the sake of it?
Your argument isn't consistent. If it was bullshit that Clarkson got hounded for something and nothing then why isn't this? No, it wasn't. That's just special pleading bullshit. Once you get on the racism train, you open yourself up to this, because let's be completely honest here, anyone who was "racist" towards non-whites on Twitter or anywhere else and tried to pass it off as a joke or sarcasm would be hounded to the ends of the Earth. You can't say its OK for one group and not others. Just can't. Yes its totally manufactured outrage and the trolls don't really care what these people have said or done, but that doesn't matter; the rules of the game have been set by years of manufactured outrage from the other side (remember Jeremy Clarkson and the eeny-meeny story? That kind of horseshit).
I hate that it seems I'm defending Alt-right cunts here, because that's the last thing I want to do, but censorship is a tool of the left that has been massively abused and misused over the last few years and this is the result.
So it's wrong then yeah?I find the witch hunt culture we have now massively distasteful
Your argument isn't consistent. If it was bullshit that Clarkson got hounded for something and nothing then why isn't this?
The attack on Sarah Jeong reveals less about her tweets than the hostility of the internet
Again does anyone actually think she hates all white people or are you just policing language in the way you say is shitty when the left do it?
You could have just left it there. It is bullshit
Its difficult for minorities to be racist towards white people, because it doesnt cause offence...and thats the number one reason it makes the news. And yet you know she’s as much a racist as James Gunn is a paedophile.Given the volume of tweets she sent, and the culture in the US at the moment, I'd say its wrong she's on the editorial board of a newspaper that lives on the moral high ground, yes.
And yet you know she’s as much a racist as James Gunn is a paedophile.
But you aren't actually disagreeing with what I've said.I also know you're determined to ignore talking about the real issue. For the last time, it doesn't fucking matter. This is the world safe spaces and no platforming have created.
But you aren't actually disagreeing with what I've said.
Yes.And you accuse me of arguing for the sake of it?
All the left have done since the war is try to fix everything by telling people to be nice while at the same time vastly increasing the umbrella of offence.
