Didnt he take Fulham and Man City both up to the top flight and kept them there when they were in similiar positions?

Vermaelen looked like a nice defender on the ball when we played Ajax last season. He didn't seem to be the best defender at heading a ball out, though, which is what I would have thought Arsenal have missed recently.

Vermaelen is a lovely player. He scored a own goal back in 06 or so, which got FC Copenhagen into Champions league \o/

as for Hangeland - he's decent, although I wasn't all that impressed when he played for us. He seems to have stepped up in PL though He's a nice fella, so I won't complain if he gets sold to a even bigger club.
